I agree. IF we get Landry, I see Toure and David starting with Landry and Smith off the bench. As was mentioned earlier, Smith can't create off the dribble, but can shoot. Also, he IS NOT 6-5 as listed. Closer to 6-3. He could be an excellent SG off the bench with Landry backing Murry and Williams backing Ragland.

If it all works out, we could have the best bench in the nation again...Williams, Smith, Landry, White, and EO! Another second string group that finishes in the top half of the Valley if they had their own team.

    • Oh, and I really like the two freshman recruits that were brought in yesterday!! To have freshman of THAT caliber considering WSU in the spring is a good thing! Gabe is a much better big than I could have imagined considering WSU this late.

How was the pickup? Who else looked good?

I just cannot see it. Ben Smith is one of my favorite people and one of my favorite players, but I don't see him as having the ball handling abilities to be the SG. I see him as a 3 who could, against the right match up, play a very few minutes at the 2 or 4, but not on a regular basis. If Landry signs, I believe he and Ben will battle it out for the starting spot at the 3 and Toure will be the starting 2 with David backing him up. I do believe Guy could play the 2 and in the 2012-2013 season, he could be either the 2 or 3 depending upon who comes in.

On the other hand, I must say that I would really love to have Ede come in as a freshman. If he were willing to sign, I personally would take him in place of Guy, who I really like. But the thought of Ede coming in as a freshman really excites me.

          • I'd also see Smith backing up at the 2 and Landry at the 3. I don't see where Smith isn't good enough to handle the ball at the 2 but is at the 3. They're both perimeter positions. I'd be shocked if both Kyles and Murry aren't starting.

Landry does intrigue me. However, we all know I prefer freshman and we did have a couple of pretty good ones on campus recently. I'd rather have one of them.

I don't disagee with that. I would love to have both potential freshmen who visited yesterday.

              • Suppose we go small - Landry, Smith and Hall.

I would not be surprised to see this combo on the floor.

In certain match-ups, Garrett is foul prone.

I'm sure it was tough telling a 2/3 that there's playing time.

We'll see if he was the best player available.

I'm not convinced. Very talented? Oh yeah. Best available? Eh...

I think we will continue to see backcourt players from JUCO continue to go other routes. They normally want to play their game, not the Marshall way.

The starting spots are as such:
                        Joe -1
                        Toure -2
                        Ben -3
                        Garrett - 5

They will be starters unless they get out played consistently in practice, and we won't know if that's gonna happen until many months from now. But for now, thats who's starting. It's their spots to lose and they all know it.

Hall has the 4 spot as solid as Joe is at the point.

I get your drift. Nevetheless, I'm glad we got Joe over Carter and, before it's all over, the same about Ede over Landry.

I like the freshman for 4 (or five) over the juco for two. I don't have a problem with jucos, but with talent being comparable, I'll take the freshman.
