Here's the deal. The Shocks are sitting in a rosey spot during this signing period. We can be picky and sign solid players such as a Guy Landry. HCGM does not just have to get bodies in here as when he first arrived and the cupboard was somewhat skimpy. On the other hand, signing around 2 really good players would be prudent because we take a 2 year hit in a row on 5 solid Seniors graduating. This will leave a mark, even if we reload.
If we do sign Guy L., the depth chart at the 2 and 3 spot might be the best ever in Shocker history. Toure', Ben, and DK are most likely to improve. I could even see DK having a banner Shocker finish as well as Toure' making the 1st Team All Valley. With that said, Guy appears to be a player that could not only help us alot this coming Season, but also be very very solid his Senior Season. I hope his visit goes well here and that he signs black and yellow.

Originally posted by ShockTalkI realize that sometimes you simply take "the best available" at times, but this one still stumps me a little. You will have 3 seniors at the 2/3 next year with Smith , Murry, and Kyles. That's 26-27 minutes per player. Add Landry and everyone's is down to 20 mpg or some a little more and some a little less.
Plus, DWill can and does play the 2 some. Does Richardson sit another year? Wessel red-shirt? Wouldn't they both benefit from a little PT next year in prep for when the seniors are gone the next year?
Basically, it gives coach A LOT of options to throw at opposing teams. Since our frontcourt won't be as deep this year, it doesn't hurt to have as many good guards/wings that you can to try and make up for the thin frontcourt.
Also, we still don't know if all current players will be back next year. I am sure there is a reason we are still after Landry pretty hard.
It all depends on the egos of the players. This past year everyone accepted that depth was our strength...could they do that again? I think so.
Regardless coach will work it all out in the end."He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

Guy hung out with the team today.
Spent time together at coaches house for a while. ate there.
Went to the Wichita Wild game. Didn't stay too long, i guess he wasn't too entertained by it. No big deal.
Connected well with the players. Seemed like a really genuine nice guy. Heard he was really drawn to Ben. Would sit near him often and strike up conversation. I guess nice guys are drawn to nice guys.
Thick accent.
This is all that I heard.
I imagine we have a pretty good chance to get him.veni, vidi, vici

Per his twitter, sounds like he had a good time. Nothing revealing, of course. But glad he had fun:
Pretty cool day.. Nice outside
Downtown Wichita,KS poppinWichita, KS was fun.. Or it's still fun

@ @CerasolisGhost Tough to tell with him (Guy Landry), but I would say top four - Tennessee, Michigan State, Wich St., and UTEP"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

That may indicate that UTEP, a planned May visit, is off the board.
He also called the recruiting process "crazy" "worse than when I was in high school" and said "But I'm close to being done with it."“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying.
