Tyler Brown to Illinois State

Half the Valley schools were watching Tyler Brown finish his JC career by scoring 37 points. He is a 6-4 shooting guard in his second year at Marshalltown CC (Iowa). Before that he had a redshirt yeat at Morehead State. He played High School ball in Owensboro, Kentucky. This year he was a pre-season JC All-American and averaged 20.9 points per game for his 15-15 team.

Taking a look at him Thursday night were WSU, Bradley, Illinois State, Missouri State and Southern Illinois.

Looks like he can slash, finish or find the open man, has an outside shot and plays tough on the inside. My guess is we would use him as a 3 next year along with Smith and as a 2 if needed. He has my thumbs up. He is probably going to be in the Valley and I would prefer it would be with us.

Brown, a second team JUCO AA, will visit Illinois State and Wichita State later this month ...

He averaged 21.2 points to rank 13th in the country this season after averaging 15 points per game while earning honorable mention All-American status a year ago. He scored 25 or more points on nine separate occasions this season, including outbursts of 46, 38 and 36 points.

They're set up nicely to make progress and possibly be a factor his SR year. Plus, there's a lot of PT available.

You could have said the same thing about Mallett and Ricks when they signed.

TB will have a great chance at immediate playing time with a good young supporting cast of bigs.
