AndShock, WSU's lack of success can't be viewed as a negative for bracket buster. At the very least it should give the top three or four teams in the valley a game to show that they are better than the other lower profile teams that may have built an at large resume. This year the game will be huge for mo state, WSU, and Indiana state if each team continues to take care of business against the lower non-top three teams.

How many times has BB mattered to us? I guess you could say it mattered in terms of seeding in '06. It mattered a little bit last year, I think it was our last shot at an at-large. Seems like it doesn't matter to us in "most years."

Being our last shot at an at-large seems like mattering more than a little bit.

I think we might be able to agree that the only reason the BB matters so much this year is because the conference is so down. If this conference was anywhere near decent SWOMO and WSU could prove themselves in conference. This is more evidence that the BB is a "small-time" event.

I agree, but a "small-time" event could just possibly help us get into a "big-time" dance in March.

No it could possibly keep them out with a loss but a home court victory over some other mid major more than likely will not.

I'm sorry but you don't overcome media bias by playing and beating other teams viewed with the same bias.

            Where are the A-10,CUSA,MWC teams?

If we lose, everything is a moot point anyway unless we win on March 6. But a win over a top-50 type team in BB might be a difference maker to Eugene Smith and his 9 merry men.

                Valparaiso (46)

Of course, Missouri State is a potential opponent for them.
All three of these teams lost this weekend. #21 St. Mary's got ran at Vanderbilt 89-70, ODU lost at home 59-50 to VCU, and Valpo also lost at home today 63-61 to Green Bay. I would expect ODU and Valpo to drop some, maybe St. Mary's.

I see 3 road teams in top 50 outside of Missouri state. Two of those 3 WSU has played the previous two BB's so I wonder if that will discourage the matchup's. George Mason would be nice but who knows.

Sure you might get a great matchup but usually that means the team is already putting together a great season and will be considered for at large. BB just helps eliminate a few more from consideration opening the door for a few more mediocre big 6 teams.

What's our won/loss record in the BB? Seems to me it is not anything to brag about, but I may be mistaken.

                        By my count...

I'm assuming we started against Austin Peay in '05.

                        2-5

                        6-0 in return games

This is definitely a rematch I would like to see too. But no more Skinn-ey 3 point daggers at the Chuck please.
Well.....take it for what it's worth, but the word we've heard through the grapevine is that the Coach L wanted to continue the series, but Marshall declined.

I know our fans would love to see you guys again.

If this is true, then I hope Marshall had a good reason that I'm not aware of. Marshall's scheduling doesn't exactly leave me, or a lot of Wichita State fans satisfied.

This better not be true. Anybody want to ask Marshall point blank about it on the coach's show?

I believe HCGM takes on a "BCS" like hat when it comes to scheduling. Is the Tulsa series the only quality non-tourney games scheduled under his watch? If the TCU and Texas Tech series were put together and signed after Marshall's arrival, then I'll back off from my position, but I have a feeling they were already in the works when he arrived.

I do not disagree with his position of not doing one and dones. You can play several BCS schools at neutral sites through tourneys as long as you can continue to get into them. I think they are always trying to do this.

However, I think they favor having one or two more buy-in home games over setting up home and homes with other quality mid major programs. I see a lot of other good mid major programs doing this, so I believe this route is available to WSU if they want to do it. Unfortunately, they may not want to "man up".

We voted. You're elected to call in, SF.
