  • Posts about Turgeon

I guess we're going to have to have some special guidelines regarding posts about Turgeon.

    1. Turgeon is a valid discussion topic. Please don't start topics or reply in existing topics that you don't like it. Just skip it.

    2. Subjects should be limited to his time at WSU or his general experience at aTm. For example, we don't need aTm prediction topics. Mentioning a game result is fine, unless it occurs every game.

    3. Use existing topics as much as possible. If there are already 3 or 4 MT topics on the first two pages (yes, we actually expect you to take a few seconds to look), use one of them if at all possible.

    4. Don't "hijack" existing topics with Turgeon discussion, unless it's particularly relevant. Otherwise, those posts and any that quote them will be deleted.

If the staff thinks a topic was started just to get under some people's skin, it will be deleted. If a topic is started unnecessarily or goes against one of the above guidelines, it will be locked or deleted.

I don't anticipate banning anyone over Turgeon topics, so please don't get upset if one of your posts is deleted or locked. However, if it appears that someone is intentionally trying to get under someone's skin or repeatedly violating these guidelines, a ban may be handed out.

What's wrong with posting scores? We post scores of opponents. KjSU's scores usually get posted and they are not opponents and have no relation to WSU at all. IMHO, the scores of any team should be eligible for posting as they may have an effect on WSU's poll and/or power ranking. Some may just like to follow former coaches' performance.

Second question, does SN pay a fee for the number of topics begun? Is that the reason you are so protective of a new thread?

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

        - I didn't say scores couldn't be posted. But we don't need a special topic for every one of aTm's game results.

        - I don't want the front page to be cluttered with a bunch of Turgeon topics. Besides, general net etiquette says you shouldn't start new topics if it's better placed in an existing one. There really shouldn't be more than one or two topics on the front page related to Turgeon.

This is a WSU board, and discussion of non-WSU personnel should be kept within reason. IMO, more than two (three max) topics on the front page is not reasonable.

Royal makes the rules around here and if you don't conform I will personally kick you square in the grapes (that can be very painful)
Nobody here gives a rats arse about MT anyway. Why not post about Ralph Miller or Gene Smithson? We have thanked them for their service, now lets live in the here and now baby!
Royal just pm me if you need me to punt some pills, karate the kahonas, Pele the pumpkin seeds, front snap the sack, knee the nards, round house the rollers, spinning heel to the hangin pills, kung fu the hangin two, or simply kick someone square in the grapes. ( all of which can be very painful)

Don Beggs and Jim Schaus were instrumental as well.

There are some who hold him just under god type status. That's over the top. He did a lot to help push the program forward. Also, the over the top people can't stand any criticism of Turgeon despite the fact that those same criticisms were said while he was still here. I have never had a problem with his supporters and I don't have a problem with those who no longer support him. I know a lot of people who weren't big fans of his while he was here but still acknowledge that he helped push us forward. There's a middle ground that some won't accept at all. And those are the over the top types. Personally, I lost a lot of respect for Turgeon when he did something that Bob Huggins refused to do.

From cellar-dwellars to Sweet 16....you wish to characterize that as merely "pushing the program forward?" I would call that assessment "over the top."

To three under achieving seasons. This program is nowhere near where it can be. It didn't capitalize on the Sweet 16. And a lot of the success also goes to Beggs, ADJS and the donors like Charles Koch. Again, he helped push us forward but we haven't reached the top. If you want to crown him the king of kings go for it. I won't. He did some good. He could have done more. And he still did something that 99% of coaches wouldn't do. And that's my biggest issue with him.
