  • SIU getting destroyed by USC

64-40 with 4:45 left in the game. Didn't see this coming when I started watching the game...

Saluki's look very average tonight....perhaps even below average. USC plays real good defense, but they have missed some VERY makeable and open shots. I don't see any shooters tonight. They will be very beatable if they don't get someone to step up and hit shots when they need them.

17 and 12 for Falker. Pretty solid game.

      USC shot 60% - SIU shot 32%

      Final score: 70-45 USC wins

Cold shooting, and lack of defense, letting USC shoot 60%. I think the loss of Tony Young and Jamal Tatum is a big loss. I dont see SIU being as good as last yr. Still very solid but very beatable.

Yea, this is pretty much exactly what Doug Gottlieb said at the end of the game as well.

I hate to say it, but that loss was more embarrassing than our post-game thread in here involving a game that won't begin until 5 days..

              SIU looked like dog poo.

Shocking, but they did make the finals of the tourney...

Their only consolation is that many teams this year have bad losses (but to teams that aren't supposed to win). At least they lost to USC, a BCS team with high profile players.

If anything, it might make SIU more dangerous in the post season, after they have had time to regroup and get their act together (perception = they need to get their act together)....

SIU will get over this pretty quickly .....

Sounds a lot like how Texas A&M dismantled Ohio State in the finals of the NIT tournament.

Better now than later in the season.

Well in all fairness...USC has some serious athletes. That and no backcourt to speak of for SIU put SIU at a bigtime disadvantage. The Pac-10 is just sic this year.

SIU will still be tough but with no "shooters"...a couple few Valley teams should be able to beat them.

It was just one game, early in the season. It could be just an anomole.

That said, last night I saw the SIU team that SubGod and myself had been predicting. Poor shooting and if the Falker-Shaw combination isn't succeeding (Shaw was largely invisible, sans a couple of 3's), they'll get beat.

Though I didn't expect them to be out-defensed, but they were, and it wasn't even close.
