I've questioned the Valley tournament being a week early for years and I too would hope that it could be moved to avoid the week off. However, does anyone who has the ability to influence a move believe the current timing to be a problem?

Such a lame excuse. The layoff didn't stop us from our little mini-NIT run in 05. It certainly didn't stop us from our Sweet 16 run.

Anything but that extremely weak reason, please.
The team looked rusty. They had a lot of trouble getting their game going out of the locker room. That's been a road problem, but is generally the opposite of how they've started most home games.

We got to start our S16 run against Seton Hall. We weren't so fortunate to get a grossly overrated opponent to start this post-season. It's pretty tough to compare the effect of a long layoff on different teams under different coaches.

      The Shox looked rusty tonight.

I'll use you posting method, SF. If I say it OFTEN enough, it becomes fact.

There, I've said it 3 times. I don't have the time or desire to make separate posts to repeat myself like you do.

      :good:
And you mooch off other people to make points. How shocking.
Why do you attack other Shocker fans? You do not know me from the man in the moon, so why do you get personal. Unbelievable; Aargh stated his opinion, which he has a right to. You can state yours too, but why all the I'm right and your wrong crap - you must be somebody's ex-wife.
You should mooch off of Aargh's humor too because your stabs at it are painful to read.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

When you make good points, you will find others agreeing with you. If that ever happens with one of your posts, I'm sure you'll understand.
No rebuttal other than a self pat on the back?

        • I am too lazy to go back and read the entire thread, but I will say that I was very impressed with this Nevada team. They are athletic and do the little things right. I really like their style of play.

The 6 jokesters they brought with them from the prostitution capital of the US (no slight intended to Junction City), however, were unbearable. It's really a shame we lost because I was looking forward to taunting them all the way to the parking lot. I don't care if you are a player's parent or not, acting like a 6 year old retard for two hours as a guest in someone else's gym is obnoxious as hell.

Tonight we could not shoot from the outside, nor could we hit the ocean from inside the paint. However, we seemed to have a good mid-range game for the first time since VERY early in the season. It's a shame the threes and bunnies were not falling to supplement the fifteen footers we were making.

Lots to look forward to next season.

I didn't see anything that they were doing.

Of course, I lost a contact yesterday so there was a lot of things that I didn't see.

            • I really apprciate the quality of basketball coach marshall has brought to our university and that was very good team we played tonight...I really cant wait to get our own version of Luke Babbit here someday soon....a local kid from Wichita.

Who was the recruit who was at the game tonight?

I talked to Lynn after the game and her voice was hoarse and cracking just like mine and we both laughed...what a fan she is....I would love to see her do a post game interview sometime..She is a fan for her man and his team....

I still think JT's screen was just off the hook.

                        • On the Locker Room show, caller suggested to Coach Gross that we go recuit a guy like Babbitt, who is a threat to score eveytime he touches the ball. Coach admitted that was a good idea.

                          • Coach's tone was also kind of in the "duh" category, since players like that don't grow on trees. While a message board is certainly a place for us fans to discuss, debate, disagree, and vent, I guarantee you 99.99% of the things we notice would not be revelations to the coaching staff.

We made good steps forward this year, even though we fizzled a bit in the second half of the conference season. The expectations for next year will justifiably be high!

Wait, you mean that it is a good idea to recruit high school McDonald's All-Americans? That changes everything I thought I knew about recruiting!

                              • Last night's games was so disappointing for Shocker Nation. We were all expecting to see our new developing stars -- DW & GS -- and they just didn't quite perform like we wanted. DW was in foul trouble, but hit some good shots to give the team a spark in the first half. GS, on the other hand, lost the handle on the ball numerous times down low, got blocked a couple of times, and missed a ton of bunnies. JT was just as bad.

AE was in for a grand total of 3 minutes and fouled 3 times. He could not guard the quicker and more aggressive Babbitt to save his life. With his diminished playing time the last half of the season, his future doesn't look too bright as a Shocker.

Some of the crowd's reaction to GB's hard foul on Babbitt was embarrassing. When a player takes a hard hit to the head and is slow to get up, you don't cheer when it happens. I was not proud to be a Shocker fan at that moment. Yes, that was when the officiating seemed to be unbalanced against us, but you don't take it out on the health of a college-aged opponent.

Offensively, TM had a good inside game, but a terrible 3-point shooting game. That fake 3-point shot to get his defender in the air and then the drive for the dunk was a beauty.

We could have won this game easily if we would have come out both halves firing on all cylinders. I don't know if it was rust or lack of motivation. I think playing the tournament a week and a half ago killed our momentum. That weekend we finally got our mojo back, only to have it snuffed away for much of the game last night. I know moving Arch Madness to a later date wouldn't get us the CBS game, but, come on, Dick Enberg made so many announcing mistakes and didn't seem to really care about being there. I would have rather had Mitch Holthus calling that game to a regional audience.
