    :good:

    A couple of take-aways:

You could just tell that WSU's tank was empty at about the 7 min mark. Shots were short, offense not working it as much as they needed, and started making silly fouls. All-in-all, a pretty decent game.

For the off-season, I want Ellis to work on his shot. It's painful for me to watch him with the ball. It's as if he doesn't want it. If he can just get some offense to go with his strong defense...

Since Shrek shaved his head, he looks like that nutty recruit in Full Metal Jacket that goes into the bathroom with Mathew Modine and shoots himself in his mouth. Shrek looks a little scary. http://gamesnet.vo.llnwd.net/o1/game...91030_main.jpg

Shox are going to be very good the next few years, and Stutz will be the team leader.

Let's lace them up for the NIT and kick some butt!

    • Shox played well. UNI is just good at what they do. If you don't stop them when they stop you, it's going to be tough. There's a reason they've been in the top 20 and won the Valley.

I hope they play well in the dance. Remember, our season is NOT over. Not by a long shot.

      • Let's hope all the Valley teams do well in the various tourneys from here. That means more money into Valley Teams pockets to utilize for the future. The Shocks should be awarded some home games and add to 25 wins as we continue to build our rising Program.

Soon we will do player evaluations. Who knows what that will bring but Coach Marshall is always recruiting. We will also will return our fair share of Seniors and Juniors for next Season just as Northern Iowa had for this Season.

        • This was an awesome season even though we didn't go where we wanted to go. The table is well set for next year. Way to go Coach Marshall and way to go team. You should be very proud of your accomplishments and lets see what we can do in the NIT.

          • I could've sworn (more or less did) that we would win this one. UNI is a solid team, and we just didn't have quite enough.

Our team grew tremendously this weekend. It was fun to watch so many of our players find their groove and I am extremely proud and optimistic about our future success.

Hey, we'll get another home game or 2 which is fine by me! I'm looking forward to seeing Clevin play a little bit more before it's all over.

We have a nice team guys and gals. Nice team. That won't be our last tournament championship game, and I don't think we'll come up on the short end most of the times we're in it going forward.

True but we don't get here without Murry's play against Illinois State. UNI is a good team; it would have taken an amazing game for this group to beat the Panthers.

                • Since the subject came up - I'm going with 3 schollies for next year

                  1 - Orukpe
                  2 - JuCo PG
                  3 - Best available HS 3 or 4.

Out of 12 returning players, I doubt all will return. That's just not the way things happen any more. Just looking at the numbers says to expect an extra ship available.

Depending on the progress that Hamilton made this year, there could be a need for a front court player in the incoming class. It seems there's always a need fpr a SF.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Just catching up on the game thread. If UNI can't get the CBS crew, then maybe they can take Bruce and Craig. That duo seems to gush excessively over all of our opponents. Then maybe we could get commentators who know which team they are with.

                    • Just got back from STL.
A few quick quips before the annual Notes, Quotes & Billygoats.

It's been a while since I've seen a player regress offensively like AE. He makes it tough to watch when he winds up and launches.
Remember, this is the same guy who scored 19 in a 2007 Valley Tournament game.

UNI fans are the worst. It's bad enough to go through life fat, drunk and stupid, but they are just plain dumb.

I know the CU drunks are offensive but they weren't around long enough this year to take the honors. But at least they can blame alcohol, to some extent.
                      UNI fans are simply retarded.

DW is simply a star in the making. As long as he maintains focus, works hard and listens to the coaches, he will be a lot of fun to watch for the next 3 years.

The "D U I" chant at Ogre just before halftime was funny stuff.

Finally, WSU fans really came out and supported their team. They were loud, mostly well behaved and everywhere. Nicely done! 8)
Above all, make the right call.

                      • DW really turned it on the last few games of the season. It's amazing how quickly it's gone from dreading whenever he comes on the floor to being concerned when he gets 4 fouls and has to come out of the game. It's too bad that there is probably no at large bid because this team could win a game or two in the dance. There is just no room for error when the non-con schedule is as bad as ours. Win one out of UE, Drake, Bradley and CU and we'd be in. The next few years should be fun around here though!

                        • I have a question for the more sane members that saw the game, and I regret that I didn't make the opportunity to be able to ask ShockRef in person this question at the game but it was impossible with family.

On the first play of the second half, Garrett beat Lurch with a dribble drive flush. Once beaten, Asshat placed both hands on Garrett's backside and shoved him, seemingly in order to get a foul and prevent the basket, however he was too slow to undercut Garrett. This was right in front of me, 7 rows up. I confirmed the act on DVR late last night.

I understand the "no harm no foul" mentality, however in this case, harm was 100% intended, imho.

Was it a)a terribly blown call (Paul Janssen couldn't have missed it as he was in perfect position) or b)Garrett not getting the call because he is big or c)me blowing something out of proportion?

My last question (at least for now) refers to players whining to the officials along the lines of "hey watch 23 hang from my nutsack when I'm posting up". A lot of kids do it (far too many) but little Koch was doing it quite a bit and he sold Sanzere on it 2 times, and they were both big fouls (time to sit type of fouls), both half flops and both off ball, and frankly it was annoying that a freshman could "sell" that and a ref would buy it.

Your multiple choice option is a toss-up between a and b.

I think this is an excellent summary of the type of "athletes" and "system" UNI has brought with them this year. Their most athletic part of their bodies are their mouths and a lot of them could have made it to Oscar Night last night with their masterful performances of the Flop.

I think UNI was overall the better team but if they get some referees who know how to ref in the NCAA's (likely), then they will get exposed pretty badly in the tournament.

I watched the replay too and it was incredibly annoying how many shoves went unnoticed and how the Koch brothers insistently whined and told stories to the officials at every deadball. Very weakly.

                            ... No really, deuces.

I saw the same thing you did. They call fouls on lesser touches than that.

                              • I want to root for UNI in the tournament. I really do. I would like to see a team from the MVC succeed and win some games, and with the way they play they have a chance to do it.

However, with the players they have.. I'm just not sure if I can. The Koch brothers are both very cheap players that throw elbows constantly. Even O'Rear threw an elbow yesterday at one of our players. WuDrWu pointed out a play that Egleseder pulled. I get tired of also seeing their players flop around all over the place like they're trying out for a role in a movie.

Chances are, UNI will get refs that will call them out for the cheap things that they pull. And if they do.. it's not going to be a pretty day for them.
