Yeah, I know... I keep looking at all of these bubble teams, and they're profile isn't any different than ours... I think Doug Elgin needs to get on the phone and make some calls!
My guess would be he already has. They showed him on CBS towards the end of the game on Sunday and he looked dejected. You can bet he was internally cheering for us. He's done a lot for the league... especially television. I'm confident he will do (or has done) everything within his power to plead our case to the powers that be; unfortunately he's fighting a major uphill battle.
    SFL is back!

I have not done the research, but I would be curious as to how we compare to the other teams in these areas:

      - Non-conferece strength-of-schedule.
      - Wins over top 50
      - Losses to 100/150+ (can't recall which one is on the "dance card").

Those are the areas that will separate.

Ok, I went and looked at four of the "just out" bubble teams that have worse RPIs than WSU - Illinois, Seton Hall, Washington and Arizona St. WarrenNolan.com doesn't break down the non-conf SOS, but what appears to keep WSU from being mentioned with them is our lack of top 50 wins (we have one, they have two or more) and our loss to 200+ Evansville. The other four have no 200+ losses.

As big as the bubble is, it doesn't take much to make WSU less worthy in the bracketologist's eyes. What WSU really needed was to have avoided the UE loss and/or won one of the games vs. Pitt or Utah St. Do one and we're in the discussion. Do both and we're in.

I'm about 5 more games from discussing a perfect storm as JH4P would say.

              UConn LOST
              Sout Florida LOST
              Marquette LOST
early tournament losses for bubble teams could be helping WSU

I'm all for positive thinking, but Missouri isn't a bubble team.

Getting drilled by No.12 seed Nebraska before the quarterfinals makes them a bubble team.

                    ... No really, deuces.

If they're going to invent an "eye test" they'd better use it on everyone. Mizzou looked pitiful against a horrible team.

                        Agreed.

What are the chances the superb ESPN analysts use the "eye test" in defending Mizzou later on?

You know what? (and this isn't directed at Cdizzle) but when the commentators pull out "the eye test" it just about drives me nuts.

What does that mean? Is it a BCS excuse to put somebody in the dance because of the name on their jersey?

I'd like to see one instance where "the eye test" actually helped a team from outside the Power 6.

The eye test judges the ability of the committee member or analyst to see the name of a BCS school on the jersey. Thus, we fail....

                            • Maybe I'm reading this wrong? We might even have trouble making the NIT. Yikes! :(

"These 32 teams usually consist of big-name schools in an effort to get TV ratings as fairness and selecting teams that deserve to continue their seasons rarely comes into play with the NIT selection committee. The NIT was run by an independent organization which favored the local New York schools thanks to those in charge, but the 2007 NIT Tournament was the first year that the NIT was run by the NCAA. The new management by the NCAA did not seem to help out mid-majors in 2007 as the Akron Zips found out. Akron finished their season with more wins than any school in NCAA Division I basketball history to not receive a postseason tournament invitation."
