It would be great if we could avoid playing teams with RPI's in the upper 200's or 300's, but as long as it is our goal to have 16 or 17 home games each season it is pretty much impossible to avoid playing two or three teams that fit into that category.
That was actually my point. Based on current RPI, we've had 5 teams at or below 281 RPI. Only one mandated by a tourney (along with a DII). We need to try and limit 250 RPI & below teams to 2. Pick up one likely to be over 200, one likely above 150, and one above 75 at a minimum.

After seing Alcorn State, there is no reason for WSU to play them. Unless they paid WSU to play here and even then I would have told them no. Alcorn St is 0-21 and it looks like they only have one legit chance for a win(Southern). They put the i in team and took the fun out of fundamentals.

So...the talk is Siena an Butler. My question is how in the world did Siena get such a good RPI. I looked at their schedule and it looks like all the "big" schools they played...they lost those games. I don't really see any BIG wins for them.

I just wish the selection committee takes everything into consideration and not just RPI.

Because losing to big schools is better than beating schools out of the SWAC. Siena has a schedule that I would absolutely love for us to have.

            And 1 for AndShock.

I NEVER want to see this schedule again. IF, I repeat IF, we were to win tomorrow, we're probably a Alcorn State for Duquesne away from a ESPN game against Butler. I hope we learn from our mistakes.

              Question:

Assuming that both games would be among the six ESPN2 televised contests (none of the games will be on ESPN), which of the following choices would help WSU's RPI and postseason chances more?

              1. A road loss against a 20-something RPI team.

              or

              2. A road win against 50-something RPI team.

Neither! Both would require the Shox to have a great finish to the season - no more than one bad loss (roadies only), finish second in the regular season and get to the finals of the MVC tourney. If we were to do that, I don't think a BB road loss would hurt the chances either.

If we were to play Butler and win, it would be much the same only we could get away with a weak road loss and maybe a loss in the semis.

Statistically, you are correct. In reality, #2 will have very little to no impact. I think the Shox will need to have the same good finish to the season whether they win or lose to a 50 something RPI team on the road.

I only care which scenario is going to better prepare us for mid-late March.

Wins build confidence, losses exposes flaws. Look at how bad we played against the match-up zone at Drake.

We test our outside shooting on the road, but if a few don't fall, then the team shuts down on them and trys to work the ball into the post. If our opponent has the post covered, then we go into a funk. We, as a team, are weak on shooting and making 10-12 feet Jumpers.

We should play someone with a slightly better RPI than ourselves in the Bracketbuster.

That's only Butler and I don't see them taking that game away from Siena since they're the highest RPI away team.

Dont forget there is still one game left before the games are announced and Sienna plays RPI destroyer Marist (1-20 with an RPI of 336) while WSU plays SIU (146). That should close the RPI gap some assuming both win.

Northeastern is trying to throw the BB into turmoil. They're leading at home 58-48 over ODU with about 7:30 to go.

Does anyone know what time to expect the announcement on pairings today?
