I don't believe HCGM or Dana would agree with you on that.

IMO, if he makes a simillar degree of progress between now and next year, he will be a major contributor. One poster was complimentary of Blair and his passes and I assume believes he would have handled that pass. Perhaps so ... but he also had 5 turnovers ... a hell of a lot for a power forward that played 22 minutes so do we start the "Blair sucks" thread? Of course not. This is just one of those typical, nonsense, critical threads that always show up after an emotional loss. You always judge a player, coach and team on their body of work ... not a single game.
Multiple levels of what multiple? I will have to admit, I expected more out of Garrett once Valley play started. You simply can't judge Stutz based on his performance during the Sara Lee Invitational.

And one more thing, Stutz couldn't carry Blair's knapsack. If I were to honestly predict Blair's ceiling using the same lens as this community has been using with Stutz, I would have to predict a first round NBA draft pick after his senior year.

I want to be wrong on Stutz, I really do..

IMHO, I don't think HCGM had only a "one year" performance out of GS in mind when he signed him. GS has to become a player sooner than his senior year.
so are you saying he has been a failure this year? he has had some pretty solid games for wsu. he has also played poorly in some games. personally i think he has contributed to the team this year. i do think he will probably be redshirted next year, not b/c he needs to be, but b/c he can be. i also think that if that is the case his next 2 years will be paul miller and troy mack senior year type of years.

              whats wrong with MXTE's post?

he's just sharing an opinion that many shocker fans have.

              Stutz's big games:

Iowa- 18 and 5 biggest starter 6'9, overall record 7-11
Clev St- 13 and 6, top four leading scorers or guards, 7-12
Alcorn St. (cupcake) 10 and 12
Texas Southern (cupcake) 14 and 4 (really? 4?)
Texas tech 13 (7 free throws) and 3

Stutz is averaging 3.8 pts and 3 rebounds a game in valley play.

If he is going to have "pretty solid games" against teams that play all guards or he's taller by a half a foot than the guy guarding him, then okay play him 30 min. keep him on the bench during competitive games.

For this year at least. I am hoping for a miracle in year three. When I saw the simple bounce pass fly through his arms all I could say was holy reflexes/coordination Batman. Stutz's brain and body are in low gear. I hope it is not permanent, but his lack of speed and ability to hold the darn ball close to his chest and protect it when he is in the post, is overshadowing his size. I would trade Stutz for another Blair in a heartbeat.

I'm frustrated. I'm ready to send Stutz over to Newman to break Bradley's records.
                  MT,
Until you know the whole story, especially in regards to his health, you need to keep your pie hole shut.

Comments such as this illustrate your ignorance both in terms of the player and the person.

Besides, when the Courtmasterbaiter starts agreeing with you, that's confirmation you've really hit the toilet seat with your face. 8)

Against Creighton Saturday, it looked like Garrett was being bodied and he was trying so hard to hold his position or gain a little ground that he lost concentration on holding onto the ball or was unable to maintain his balance. Even when he didn't turn the ball over by traveling or a swipe, he didn't have enought balance/strength to execute a strong shot. Another 15 lbs will help that situation tremendously.

I've calculated stats on a per-40-minute basis, rebounds, points, personal fouls and possessions (assist+steals+blk/2 - turnovers) and ranked them in each category (1=best; 10=last)

Draw your own conclusions, but notice how Durley, Hatch and Ellis move up the rankings in the +/- category, which gives significantly more weight to defense, whether individual or team.

He tweaked his knee in practice before the ISU game, I believe. I know of nothing else.

Separate the Pillsbury Parade stats from the MVC stats. It takes a little more basketball knowledge than being able to read a score card to understand what Mr. Ellis brings to the game. Dana Altman clearly understands what #0 brings to the game.

Then you also understand what a seven footer brings to the game. Stutz makes for a well known presence in the paint and will alter shots. Oh the joys of being 7 ft tall.
