  • WSU VERSUS CREIGHTON PREDICTIONS

Here's the deal. It's time to party like it is 1992, which is the last time we beat these blue blue birds at their perch. Thus, we need to establish our inside game and get the brooms out and sweep this foe and send them south for the winter.

    Black and Gold--77

    Blue Blue Birds--70

    777
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

          You're kidding, NCAABound, right?

          Please tell me you're kidding.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I hope the players don't somehow look beyond the Jays, but I really can't see how they'd look past sCUm.

Shox have learned to play on the road and that's a gorgeous thing.

            Shox - 72

            Dead birds - 62

Lately, we've been getting outrebounded by teams that we should be dominating on the boards. This will probably be the game where we come back to reality that we can't win them all on the road. But, hopefully I'm wrong on this one.

This is what my head is saying, as well. The rebounding over the past two games has concerned me, especially against CU. My head is saying we fall in a close one, but I can't quite bring myself to make that prediction.

If you remember from the coach's show, the reason the rebounding has suffered a little is because, against the offense that both Creighton and the Trees run, WSU has been sending their big men out to contest passes and give perimeter help more than usual. So we lose the rebounding battle, but still win the war by double digits:

                      Shox: 78
                      Renters: 64

We finish better because Toure has his shot back, and Dana will start fouling a little sooner and we'll make them pay from the line.

And I predict another P'unk meltdown mid-2nd half. Also, the sun will rise from the east and set in the west.'

I think this is a huge trap game with UNI coming the next week. These are the kind of games that tell us where this program is at.

Hopefully, with the passion that we hate CU we will not overlook to UNI. Shox come out on top.

Man, this is a tough one! CU is always tough at their place, and they played with some grit and determination last night. Now, I don't think SIU is as good as we are (not bad though) but it's still AT CU, which has a well documented streak of bad luck for us.

However, I think this is our year. I think when HCGM made statements a while back that we'd eventually win our fair share of games up there, I think he starts making good on that this Saturday. Our guys know that to keep pace with UNI we need a win, even though a loss isn't devastating to our chances by any means. We know we're not going to win all of the remaining road games, but I think this one we will get.

                          SHOX -- 70
                          CU -- 66

I trust the coaching staff to get the rebounding going again. Gabe was sick. Garrett wasn't 100% in either game (CU or last night). That accounts for something.

I'm not sure these guys could ever overlook CU. Especially considering we haven't won in Omaha in forever.

The win in '92 was and is perhaps Cohen's ONLY positive stat. Kind of interesting how one of his teams has been the one to hold the title of last beating CU in Omaha for so long. Time to change all that Saturday!
