Yeah, sorry...I completely forgot about Burns...He's a starter for my team:

          New Team:

          1. Hannah
          2. Burns
          3. Cousinard
          4. Wilson
          5. Miller

          Bench:
          1. Breauer
          2. Murry
          3. Howard
          4. Clemente (toughness)
          5. Durley

I do have pause for Cousinard or Howard, but Cousinard was a stud on defense, and without going back to the stat sheet, I would guess that PJ had better stats than Howard with the exception of points. I could be wrong there.

While Burns is in my top five, he is definately not a fountain of...whatever. He was a very good player for us when we were at our lowest point as a program in the past 30 + years.

Yup. For his career, Howard had a FG% edge of .530 to .460 over PJ, slightly higher RB per game, slightly more steals. While their FT shooting % was pretty much a push, Howard did get to the line 746 times to PJ's 436. Howard wasn't a 3FG shooter, however, if you take his 1-16 in his senior year out, he had a 30 point higher percentage. Cooz had him in assists and fewer TOs.

              1st team
              Miller, Howard, Burns, Braeur, Wilson

              2nd team
Hannah, Durley, Clemente, Cooz, and unknown

Ogirri fell apart his last season and that doesn't bode well for being on an all decade team. I don't think Murry is quite there yet, but close.

I think an argument could be made for lots of role players that always do the little things that help a team win. Guys like Hatch, Clark, and such. Those guys always played the absolute hardest they could. They might not have had the stats, but without them, there would surely be alot more in the L column.

                1st Team:
                Hannah
                Burns
                Howard
                Wilson
                Miller

                2nd Team:
                Brauer
                Murry
                Cooz
                Clemente
                Durley

Almost went with McFall over Brauer, but Matt was a four year player with great grit, the knack for the great shot, and a gym rat mentality.

If I had to choose 2 of 3 players for a SG, Burns, Murry, and Ogirri, Sean loses out -- too one-dimensional.

                  1st team
                  Burns
                  Cooz
                  Howard
                  Wilson
                  Miller

                  2nd team
                  Brauer
                  Hannah
                  Murray
                  Kampman
                  Durley

                  All Entertainment team/Other deserving mention
Fridge - no more entertaining and frustrating point guard, remembered for bounce passes between defenders legs, passes off Miller's face, breaking ankles and throwing headbands

Hogg - One of my favorites, tall, athletic shooting guard, the type of player Marshall loves in a time before Marshall, think he would have been great if not for knee issues

Wise -Just for the hair and socks

Ogirri - To one dimensional and only 2 really good years before issues keeps him off the first 2 teams

Bradley and Martin - Two players who didn't necessarily start, but played a huge role in our most succesful season.

Clemente - More energy and effort then most

Ledford and Rogers - Two most important walkons of the decade

CC, Benton, Mack, Clark - For putting in the effort to help turn the Shockers around without the talent of the top players of the decade.

good call on Troy Mack. He was a beast on the boards. Put him and Clemente in together - watch out.

I really liked Troy Mack, but he was Aaron Ellis until his 5th year senior year. I do remember a 20 point 20 rebound effort against SMSU at one point, however.

I thought this was players that didn't start playing before the 2000-01 season? Mack started playing in the 98-99 season, right? Benton started in that season as well.

And I thought about Wise after I posted too. He was fun to watch.

I believe Troy Mack played in 2000-01 as a 5th year senior (MT's first season). I believe Terrel Benton also played on that team. Bret Wise would certainly count as he played both season's at WSU on Turgeon's watch, which started in 00-01 (I think).

I guess I misread it. I thought that they couldn't have played at all before that season. I posted my team earlier, but Benton and Mack would definitely need consideration.

our lowest point in 30+ years was when burns was playing? i would say that the scott thompson and randy smithson eras alone were much worse than turgeons initially solid recruiting class of burns, howard and kampman. the turnaround of the program is thanks to those guys and turgeon. i still think that the best basketball game i have seen in person was the florida st nit game, even though wsu lost.

Actually it was Cohen and Thompson that had us at our lowest point. Randy at least started to get us turned around even though he flamed out.
