  • Last night, the Shox didn't look like the same team. There was no intensity on defense -- it looked like they were just going through the motions. So many times, they allowed a man open off of a screen -- usually OE -- and they got burned. Even the full court press was just so-so.

This should be a wakeup call for the team, and things should get better. I expect to see the old team back on Friday night against Drake with a big-time win.

    • My thoughts:

      - Decent first half.

      - As is becoming habit, the team wasn't with it in the 2nd half.

      - Perimeter defense is severly lacking.

      - Lack of focus was disturbing. Silly mental errors throughout.

      - Gabe Blair is a beast!

      - Murry will bust out of his slump. He's too good not to.

      - Only the first Valley game of the season. No need to worry yet.

      - God I hope the Lakers have a chance to draft and/or sign Eldridge!

      • 1. Shouda got Hatch some looks before we did.

        2. Lost almost every loose ball.

        3. Box score shows Murry with 1 TO. He had at least 3, yes?

        4. Panic is a sign of youth and lack of self confidence.

        5. Anytime your opponent banks in that many shots, you are probably screwed.

            • Some day after thoughts;

Glad to find the forum...don't get a lot about the Shockers in DFW

In retrospect, supposed to lose this game, so good learning opportunity

Having lived in KC, I know that some of the Shocker alums get jaded by the red and blue from KU, so you have to consider that.

              • Hey we were due for a poor game, hopefully we got it out of the way early in the conference play and atleast it wasn't to a team that was horrible.

                • After game thought: WSU will finish anywhere from 5th (if lucky) to 7th in the Valley.

No offense, but there's no way you or anyone else could possibly know that after one road loss.

I agree. The loss is not the end of the world. I would like to believe it is evidence of the maturation process of a young team (which some people tend to forget). Learning to win on the road, especially in conference play, can be difficult.

It is too early, and this team is too talented, for anyone to pass judgment right now.

                      • Funny how people gets soo high after 1 tough home win and so low after 1 tough road loss. Even tho, i picked us to win, i knew we would have to play a complete game, and we didnt. Its ok we got a big home weekend ahead of us. Lets take care of our home court, and try it again next Wednesday.

                          • It was a bad game for us...I knew when Carmichael banked in the first shot of the game it wasn't going to go our way. We didn't get hardly any bounces and the birds did. I thought they were all over us on rebounds and more fouls should have been called on them for over the back. However, they had such a great shooting night. The Shox will bounce back.

The problem is not that they lost but the way they lost. They lost their composure and panicked with some of their decisions (shot selection and passes).

Also, the defense did not play well the 2nd half. This has been something we all have been watching and wondering about. I think it is safe to say it is now a trend for this team.
