I am no longer going with my 'gut' which put me right there with 99 percent of you who predicted a win. I knew better. The good thing is, we've got what - 17 more conference games left? Plenty of time to turn things around.

34th ranked team in the nation my ass!
Get over it KC! Yes, we did stunk up THE SECOND HALF; however ONE player on Illinois St. caused much of this. A loss is a loss is a loss is a loss. BFD, we lost a friggin' game that the majority of us thought we would win. The sun will rise tomorrow. If you can't live with it, go follow KU (you probably do anyway); you'll be a happier person.
Oh stop it! This was not some isolated incident regarding second half defense. This team has been allowing opponents to get over on them in the second half all season.

Like I told the other non-original fella, start thinking of some other smack talk than the good ol' KC Shox is a KU fan. It is way tired and old. I will be more than happy to put up my paycheck to yours to show you my WSU transcript, diploma and fan memorbilia to prove your ass wrong.

Yeah, there were some bad calls, but there weren't many that stood out to me as REALLY bad and it didn't seem like the flow of the game was too disrupted. Too bad we couldn't use that to our advantage.
I was fine with the officiating. Of course if you only listened to Kennedy you would think that Jank was paying off the refs.

In fact every time I noticed somebody complaining, it was usually on the Illinois state side.
As for the game itself, I think the first half was decent, and the second half was absolutely horrid. But what can you do when you've got a got drilling threes from 35 feet away with a hand in the face. Still doesn't excuse all the open looks we gave them, the horrible defense against everybody but Osiris, and the horrible decisions on the offensive end.
The way I see it, they had a not so good game. Every team is entitled to a few of those. I thought there was no way in heck that we would have beat Texas Tech, so I see it like this: we got a win that we probably shouldn't have got, and we took a bad loss that we probably should have won. This team will be ok, as long as they come back and take care of business their next 2 games at home.
I guess we tend to pay more attention to the calls against us than any calls against the other team.

There were two calls I remember that went against us. One was when Hannah got the rebound and the Illinois State player knocked him out of bounds. They gave the ball to Illinois State. The other was when Aaron was getting mugged when they were fighting for the ball at the top of the circle. When he pulled the ball out and fell over, he got called for traveling. I'm sure there were some that went against Illinois State that shouldn't have. Overall, it balanced out for both teams.

I'm sure even he get's frustrated with the game and occasionally can take it out on the refs... thankfully far less than us fans!

Can't blame this one on the refs even though they were terrible for example:

            1) BS goaltending call in first half took 2 points away from us. (2 pts Refs)
            2) The mugging of Ellis at the free throw line was 3 fouls and not a travel which then resulted in a three pointer. (5 pts Refs)
            3) ISU got away with several over the backs in first half.
            4) The pushoff of Hannah trying to stop a layup that was goaltended (7 pts Refs)
            5) The trap near the ISU bench where the guy traveled before getting fouled.
            6) Plus several others = same old BS anti-Shocker reffing.

We'll beat them down by 20 at Koch without the crap reffing and with a good Murray game.

            • You guys looked flat tonight. Don't put too much stock in this game as it was probably the worst you've played all year. Murry was out of sync after his first 3, and Hannah really didn't look for his shot much tonight.

As much as Osiris gave us it was our bigs who came thru for us. I was worried how we'd handle your frontcourt and Lewis, Odiakosa and Carmichael were a combined 12-19 from the field for 30 pts and 22 rebounds. Phillips 1 TO was solid for us considering his 0-6 from the field and his 5 stls were huge.

It's only one game. You guys will bounce back. Safe travels to those who made the trek to Normal. Good luck the rest of the way.

Fantastic first hand accounting of the game. We were flat and their big men were more than solid, to say the least.

How in the world they lost 2 games to Ohio and Niagra is beyond me.

Thanks for the nice words. But give your team a lot of credit. We aren't as good as our then 10-1 record showed (I don't count non-D1 wins) and it showed tonight. This team has a lot of work to do like improving second half defense and offense and learning to win on the road against stiff competition.

See you at the Koch in the future.

I hate to say this, having enjoyed listening to Mike Kennedy a bazillion times over the last 20-25 years, but for some reason I have been more struck by the discrepancy between his take on the officiating and what I have seen on televised games this year than normal. I can handle a little bit of homerism, but has it gotten worse of late? Or has it always been to the same degree? Sadly, I actually chose not to tune in on the radio this evening because I knew that the game I would hear about was not the same game that was being played.

Your team is legit. You're a Top 3 team and this is exactly what Top 3 teams do to protect their home court.. with authority.

Classiest fanbase in the Valley. I hope you guys kick some a$$ until the meeting back in Koch.

There were definitely some homer calls tonight. No doubt about it. There might have been a few questionable calls given to us too. The thing that ticks me off is that while we may get homered a lot on the road, we rarely get the favor returned to us at home. That's a lot of BS IMO.

I've been noticing a lot more people that don't appreciate the constant whining from Kennedy. He is one of the best Shocker voices out there but sometimes he's just gotta suck it up. Let us listeners blame it on the refs. Once in a while is ok, but every foul call by us was a supposed "robbery". Before you know it, he'll catch up to that horrible UNI homer.. and you DON'T want that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, same old broken record. Did you just get out from under that rock? Our second half play has been horrible all year dude. Hell, I would say giving up 60+ to T Tech last game was the worst half of the season.

But I digress. There's no talkin' sense to any of you fools who are blinded by the yellow glasses you wear.
