  • OE was outstanding tonight, and the difference in the game. If he has a flat game, its uglyball tonight with a game in the 50s for both.

I'm not an NBA buff but isn't he NBA material? He's a very, very good player.

I am no longer going with my 'gut' which put me right there with 99 percent of you who predicted a win. I knew better. The good thing is, we've got what - 17 more conference games left? Plenty of time to turn things around.

34th ranked team in the nation my ass!
Get over it KC! Yes, we did stunk up THE SECOND HALF; however ONE player on Illinois St. caused much of this. A loss is a loss is a loss is a loss. BFD, we lost a friggin' game that the majority of us thought we would win. The sun will rise tomorrow. If you can't live with it, go follow KU (you probably do anyway); you'll be a happier person.
Didn't everyone know who that one ISU player would be before the game?

Late first round or early second round NBA pick... I guarantee it.

They said there were NBA scouts there. I'm guessing they were impressed.

He'd be fun to watch if he weren't lighting US up!

                • I guess I must have watched a different game than some of you, because I thought the officiating was quite good. We got more than our share of calls that I don't think we should have gotten, and we got away with a LOT of travels. In fact every time I noticed somebody complaining, it was usually on the Illinois state side.
As for the game itself, I think the first half was decent, and the second half was absolutely horrid. But what can you do when you've got a got drilling threes from 35 feet away with a hand in the face. Still doesn't excuse all the open looks we gave them, the horrible defense against everybody but Osiris, and the horrible decisions on the offensive end.
The way I see it, they had a not so good game. Every team is entitled to a few of those. I thought there was no way in heck that we would have beat Texas Tech, so I see it like this: we got a win that we probably shouldn't have got, and we took a bad loss that we probably should have won. This team will be ok, as long as they come back and take care of business their next 2 games at home.

Aside from OE, we just didn't take advantage when we had chances--missed free throws (a few), finishing around the rim and probably most important -- POOR REBOUNDING.

You're about as biased towards blowing the officials as some of us are hating them.

                      • Did most of us predict a win? Yes. That's what fans on fanboards do, right?
We did not play well at all tonight but whether you predicted a win or a loss, you had to know that this was going to be a tough game to win. Sure, I'm disappointed, I hate it when we lose. The 1st game in the conference isn't going to make or break us. Now if we go on the road and lose to the predicted bottom feeders (aside from MSU) then I think we can start to panic. This team WILL be better than what they showed tonight.

Looks like the same player as last year when he considered jumping to the NBA. Was told maybe 2nd round.

Still projected as a 2nd round maybe...needs to score big time every night.

He will shoot a ton this year trying to improve his stock...maybe good for redbirds maybe not.

Yeah, there were some bad calls, but there weren't many that stood out to me as REALLY bad and it didn't seem like the flow of the game was too disrupted. Too bad we couldn't use that to our advantage.
