Pitt Vs. Wichita State 11/23

I checked the roster, and Pitt is not a big team by Big East standards. Although I haven't seen any of them play, We have bigger guards and forwards. They have a size advantage only at the starting center position. I like our chances.

Also, they get very little production out of their post, just based on stats. If we are able to do a decent job on their guard play, defensively, then we will have a shot.

If I remember correctly, they only have one post player who is not a freshman (although one of the freshmen is a redshirt).

Unfortunately I will be at work so I won't be able to watch the game, then I'll be headed over to a friends to watch RAW on his DVR. Good times. I'm hoping this is a close game. Pitt hasn't really been impressive so far, and WSU has made a history of beating up on Big East teams (minus G-Town) in the last few years. We do have the athletes to match up with Pitt. I'm going to suprise some people and go out on a limb here.

Pitt is 11-16 all-time vs. Missouri Valley Conference opponents. The last time Pitt played a MVC team was Bradley in the 2006 NCAA Tournament, a 72-66 loss on March 19, 2006.

This is our day, and our game to win. If they go in with that mentality, good things will happen.

It will be close though. I just believe WU will prevail!

I think perimeter D is going to be a key in this game.

They knocked down something like 12 3-pointers in one of their recent games. That's the type of thing that can take a team out of a game before they get to halftime. I don't think they will do that to us, but we've got to be careful. But that just proves that they have numerous (like us) guys who can step out and knock them down.

I've been a little discouraged in our two games at how well we've shot the 3. We've made a decent percentage, but some of our misses have been downright ugly (and those were typically wide open).

Here's my prediction...

If we are within 6 points at the 4 minute media timeout in the second half. We will win. Many of our players have a ton of experience in late game pressure situations, Murry is obvious, considering his last second heroics, but there were 4 other guys on the floor who also had poise to defend, make good passes, and get good shots in the last minutes of games. If we can stay close, I look for us to take over at the end of the game.
