If you couldn't tell that Hannah's 3-pointer in the final posession was with a defender in his grill (check the vid on goshockers.com for verification), I'm not sure how many of your other observations can be trusted.

Your question is answered 5 posts up from yours.

If you couldn't tell that Hannah's 3-pointer in the final posession was with a defender in his grill
From my angle and memory, Hannah was only receiving token pressure and fired off a shot from a fairly standing/relaxed position. Nobody in the building expected him to shoot it and it was sad to see...

(check the vid on goshockers.com for verification)
I didn't see any video on goshockers.com about last night's game. I certainly hope they didn't make one.

I'm not sure how many of your other observations can be trusted.

It was the final game of the season against a BCS team. There was no lack of motivation for the players or coaching staff yet it was 40 minutes of fear and confusion on our part.

I actually share Cold's passion, however you have to be realistic with your expectations. I'm as disgusted as anyone about our slide from '06. It frustrates the heck out of me when non-Shocker fans ask me what has happpened and if coach Marshall will get another year. When asked prior to the start of the season, I told them that I would be thrilled with a .500 record. I and many others thought it was 'impossible' after the 0-6 Valley start.

We must be realistic. We lost a good coach (Turdgeon as Cold refers to him) and had several back-to-back-to-back bad breaks. We're overcoming those tough breaks and more help is on the way. After digesting the loss for 24 hours I think last night might be exactly what the doctor ordered. It should be a wake-up call for the 11 new players to get stronger, larger and quicker... you do that in the weight room. I have a hunch that this loss will serve us well in the immediate future... it was an eye-opening loss to everyone who witnessed it. I'm buying stock, how 'bout you?

              NIU?

By the way, Cold, I don't think the Shocks will be playing Northern Illinois next year. And even if they did, I'm not sure they'll have a rookie coach.

And, if by some chance, you ignorantly mean conference co-champ and NCAA team Northern Iowa, didn't the Shocks split with them this year? How is that being owned?

The fact that we were consistently even with Creighton this season, along with a win at home (a win at the MVC tourney) and a loss at their place after leading at half...really shows how bad of a game WE had last night. Just because we lost by double digits to Stanford doesn't mean that we are that much worse than they are. We almost beat 2 seeded Michigan State earlier in the year. We almost beat NIT Georgetown as well. And I think we were just as good as Creighton at times, who as you put it, "played them fairly close". That just shows how off our guys really were. It's one game. They were better last night.

Oh I'm a stock owner, no doubt about it. I really don't have a choice... But I will forever be concerned with results not circumstances. I expect Wichita State with their resources to be a top 40 basketball program year in and year out and wish and hope we would frequent the top 25 from time to time. But even more important than that, I want our teams to pass the "eye test". I want exciting, long, tall, athletic ball players that play an exciting brand of basketball. There are lots of those teams (like the one we just played) that won't sniff the top-25, but will still easily fulfill my expectations as to the kind of ball that I want to see played at WSU. I wanna have "my own" little party at Koch Arena with some exciting (I don't mean hot-shooting), high-flying action.

With the fans and resources that we have relative to our conference members, there is no reason why we can't be the "Memphis" of our conference. Perhaps it's unrealistic to think that we would go three years without losing a conference game, but all the stallions that would potentially sign with the MVC should be signing at WSU. Of course there will always be players that want to play at a small private catholic school, or just happen to have grown up watching Bradley play. But with Wichita State being a public university (we have no Harvard-esque acceptance standards), and having a very substantial athletic program in all respects relative to our "peers", the rest of the Valley should be enjoying our sloppy seconds.

This ideal will only become a reality with the right coach, A.D, and coaching staff. I am praying that we have most of those pieces of the puzzle right now. It shouldn't take a miracle coach for us to have sustained success. Wichita State is just too strong in all the other intangibles. If some pecker-head with no head coaching experience can dominate this paltry conference with a bunch of corn-fed, future farmers, we better be able to do the same with a coach that basically has his own jet and can fly to Queens New York or the bayous of Louisiana to get all the hard, pipe-swingin' thoroughbreds we need...

The proof is in the pudding fellas and right now last night's pudding gave me a belly ache.

Hey smart man, you've been around long enough to know that I call them NIU on purpose right? I mean you must know that my use of NIU for the last 4 or 5 years was designed to provide a constant reminder of their reality which is a silly directionally-named university in an ocean of other equally silly directionally-named universities. I can assure you that the majority of college basketball fans call them NIU as well, they just don't do it on purpose.

What was their conference record this year? What was ours? Drake did the same thing last year with nearly the exact same quality of ball player and nearly the exact same quality of coach. Perhaps next year it will be Indiana State's turn to embarrass us with their success on a shoe-string budget, minimal talent, and little coaching experience.

Cold ... you are certainly entitled to your opinion about the game but I would suggest that you are catastrophizing it a bit ("40 minutes of fear and confusion on our part."). I also felt that we were intimidated early. Stanford has solid senior talent with sweet 16 experience and showed excellent shooting. That's going to intimidate a lot of teams with a lot more experience than we currently have. There is no question we were back on our heels. But from my perspective, we settled in towards the end of the first half and competed the rest of the way for the most part. As someone else pointed out, we actually outscored them by 6 from some point beginning late in the first half ... outscored them by 3 if you want to take away the late "3" by Hannah. I'm not one to over hype performance and last night was, overall, a poor performance, BUT a great learning experience for this very young, still inexperienced group. While I certainly wish they had played better and competed for the entire game I don't think there is any reason to allow this ONE game to diminsh the progress of the entire season or temper enthusiasm for the future. And now ... I'm out of here also.

Really now, Cold? And during how many of the last 50 years would you say the Shocks have sustained success on the court? A miracle may not be required, but it also may not be quite as easy as it looks from your lofty perch.

I'll stick with what they have going right now.
