    • COLORS!!

Also, even though you aren't allowed to charge a fee for using a credit card, there are fees you can charge to get around it. The fees and minimum purchase thing are pet peeves of mine as well as I have often found myself in small towns in Kansas at some place and only having my Visa and them having a fit if I go to buy a $1 pack of gum with my card.

PS - You can offer discounts for paying with cash. So you just raise prices by the CC processing fee % and offer an equal percentage discount for cash. Simple.

Attendance figures for all Buffalo games can be found on their website, 21.

        Code:
         ATTENDANCE SUMMARY GAMES TOTALS AVG/GAME
          HOME.................... 13 34615 2663
          AWAY.................... 13 41247 3173
          NEUTRAL................. 6 18865 3144
          TOTAL................... 32 94727 2960
Their high for an away game was 5716 at Siena, then 5482 at Evansville. Half as many as The Chuck, but not even one-quarter of the spirit. :goshocks:

        • It looks like the largest NIT crowd on Tuesday was at Kentucky (8327).

          The others:

          UNL at New Mexico- 7974
          Rhode Island at Niagara- 2400
          at South Carolina- 7251
          at Penn State -5549
          at San Diego St -4314
Wash St at St. Marys- 3500
          at Notre Dame- 2039

The two CBI games played on Tuesday:

          at Wyoming- 2407
          at Nevada -3029

If we can draw over 9000 we might have the largest attendance for any NIT, CBI or CIT first round game. Although an article in the Omaha World Herald today said that Creighton expects to sell over 9000 tickets for their first round NIT game.

It would be interesting to see if we can outsell Creighton. :wsu_posters:

The reason for not allowing a merchant to charge a fee when presented with a credit card is obvious -- it disincentivizes someone from using their credit card. Discounting would do the opposite -- but to be honest I have never asked about discounts specifically, so that is a guess.
It would reduce their cut, which is determined by a percentage of the purchase price. I think the WSU perspective is that the fee isn't for credit card use, it's a convenience charge for being able to do it without talking to a person or do a transaction during business hours. That said, since they have a monopoly in the market of Shocker tickets, I don't see this otherwise potentially bad business model going away any time.
My guess is these aren’t so much convenience charges as they are payments to the vendor who supplies the technology. WSU contracted out with a third-party vendor to offer the e-shopping bells and whistles and simply has to cover the charges. It’s a nice, convenient technology to offer but with $6 fees it all seems so self-defeating. I’d rather pick up the phone and wait 5 minutes to save $6 for the nachos.

              • Discussion on attendance and ticket sales, ...Interesting. Discussion on credit card transaction fees,...Boringly priceless.

Buffalo's Alumni Arena only holds 6100, so their average home attendance is less than 45% of their arena capacity. It's been a few years since we have had less than 45% capacity at the Chuck. Even if not full it should be plenty noisy. Just hope the team is pumped for this.

With all the good seats that have been bought since Noon yesterday, apparently a LOT of season ticket holders have no interest in this game (and I understand some of this is due to corporate ticket holders). But I still think it's too bad that if your school doesn't get in the NCAA or the NIT, there is less interest in supporting them.

                  • It sounds like a number of season ticket holders waited to upgrade. I'd like to hear where we're sitting at right now in ticket sales.

Right, which is exactly what I did. However, the tickets I got would not have been available if the people who had them for the season had purchased them for this game.

                      • What I'd like to see them do is at some point between noon and 3pm today, announce that all remaining tickets are half-price.

That might bring some families in that would otherwise forego $20/ticket.

You should send that suggestion the the Athletic Department.

But you knew the corporate seats wouldn't be renewed for this game. I'd guess most the rest have been. Not all as I know a few that can't go because of other plans. I am surprised that more tickets haven't been sold at this point. Very discouraging.
