Wow what a message board, all the naysayers are having a field day after last nights bad performance. A young team that I knew was going to be up and down this year, last night was down. This is the same team that played well at the Old Spice Classic against Georgetown, Siena, and Michigan State.
If you were counting on an NCAA bid this year, you weren't being realistic. A record around 500 is the best you could have expected this year. It's going to be a long tough year, but that's what we are in for. If you need another drink after reading this post, I don't blame you. Doc, have a drink for me! Better days are ahead. HCGM is a good coach.
Let's see what happens on Wednesday. Will the Shocker fans bring their A game ???
No.. some of us did. Weren't you on the Top 4 bandwagon?
I did say the Valley was bad enough this year that if we came together we'd finish 4th-6th. It's not too late for that to happen either. We're not the only team with issues.
The main issue we have this year, which is the same issue we had last year, is shooting. We have some good shooters this year, but we don't have any pure shooters. Our closest pure shooters would be our point guards. I'd say a pure shooter would be someone like Ogirri and further into the past, it would have been Sherrod.
I just looked back at the 2005-2006 season, the year we made it to the sweet 16, and applied those FG, 3FG and FT percentages to the games we've played this year and our record would have been 8-4. Our loses would have only been to Siena, Texas Tech, and Northern Iowa.
But the talent level is rising. Things WILL get better.
Having a man like Gabe Blair next year will help a lot inside.
Didn't we say things like this about AJ last year? AJ isn't bad but he won't turn the season around.
Note: If you are overly critical of the Shocks, I'll defend them. If you are "drinking koolaid," I'll try to point this out. (BTW: I don't consider mentioning the possibility of a Final Four in 2011 as "drinking koolaid" because (i) this is not a prediction and (ii) any such discussion is predicated on many things (e.g. player development, recruiting) working out.)
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful: Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.
At first I was suprised that this was even being disscussed. I've been around long enough that I knew there would be growing pains this year, but then again I've been around long enough to know every team has it's knee-jerk fans who overreact to everything. This year is going to tough to watch at times, but HCGM will turn this team around in time. It is going to take time though.

The Shockers don't have an A game. B- will be good enough.
