KU's reaction to Sunflower articles

Is anyone a little disturbed at the garbage coming out of the Sunflower? First it was Cornelius’ dung and now a ksu fan writing his opinions in the Sunflower. I think it reflects very poorly upon the journalism department.

I guess what bothers me is that the columnist still identifies his allegiances to KSU.

Hey. Sunflower columnist. You are at Wichita State now. You are a Shocker. Not a Wildcat. If you want to root for KSU while in the closet, fine. But when out of the closet, wear your Shocker colors and wear them with pride. (And until you do, maybe you shouldn't criticize WSU-to-KU bandwagon jumpers, as annoying and frustrating as they may be.)

Darnell had a KU booster who became a genuine family friend fund some trips and helped refinance a car loan. No doubt they are NCAA violations. The coaches didn't know about it. The university didn't know about it. Our internal investigation turned it up, and it was self-reported. It's not like Self put a bag of money on Darnell's doorstep, which you are insinuating.

Darnell's one of my favorite players, so I'll defend him all day. He's not the cheating monster you wish he was.

Certainly the Phog isn't a representation of the KU fans and alumni I associate with - something people like Rip don't understand. Every fan base has it's idiots, and it's fair to say that since KU has a larger enrollment, KU has more of them. Of course, it seems like the worst of them congregate on message boards.

There are things said on both sides that I don't agree with. I don't like seeing my alma mater slammed over and over, but I also can't stand when KU fans insult WSU and the city of Wichita.

There are good things about both schools, and if you can't see them, you're one of the idiots I'm writing about.

I agree... it reflects very poorly on our journalism department. To hell with free speech, it's time for the administration to 'lower the boom' on the department. I'm embarrassed to say the least.

INDY - Well said about Darnell. Anybody who reads the history into what went down would realize it wasn't that bad. Yes, it was an NCAA violation but it wasn't a blatant attempt to do wrong.

Darnell is also a great story and one of the guys on the team I actually enjoy see doing well and will watch him play. I wish we could find a post that plays like him. He's a hustle guy who puts it all out there. A real joy to watch.

Both the east and west side of Wichita are every bit as sophisticated as anything in Johnson County.

And they mistake our dislike of their arrogance and self-entitlement as jealously.

Interestingly enough, last week leading up to the KU-UNC, their inferiority complex about UNC shone through brightly, if anyone listened to the KC area talk shows.

And to the point about looking down on Wichita; with all due respect, they live in friggin' Kansas City. KANSAS CITY! KC ain't Paris, London, New York, Chicago, LA or even Philadelphia.

I have the misfortune of living in this hypocritical dump they call KC, and it's getting old. I get to listen 24-7 to how the KU morons claim little sister" about WSU and KSU, then turn around and act the same way toward North Carolina without batting an eye. (Has anyone else noticed how disinterested NC is in KU? See some parallels?) Then you have dumb-ass Kansas City, which is St. Louis's b@#ch, getting peaved when people rightfully realize this is a cowtown. This is honestly the most god-awful place I've ever lived.

And P.S., before KU gets high and mighty about football: I seem to remember not more than three years ago when you couldn't sell 15,000 tickets to your bush-league JV program. When Nebraska came in, Memorial Stadium routinely became the sea of red south. Kansas City morons conveniently decided they would cross the state line of fandom to like Missouri during football season, only to dust off their KU gear when basketball started. You can all cram it!
