    • I really want to see Kentucky lose a game this week and potentially drop out of the polls.

      • The years of complaining about getting no respect or credit are now behind us. Imagine if we were OU right now...I'd be pissed. We're getting too much credit right now, but I'll take it!

        • ...and KU dropped 2 spots instead of staying the same or going up after a loss.

Since when do AP pollsters care about kenpom, much less are even aware it exists? There’s been a huge disconnect in AP versus KP for the majority of the last seven years for WSU.

It is less about the voters caring about KenPom, and more about KenPom helping to defend the voters when someone asks "why Purdue?"

            • The madness definitely helped us. Only 21 of the voters had us 3-5. Vast majority had us 6 or higher, all the way to 13th.

Also, the AP voter for KU had KU 9, and WSU 12th.

Dick Vitale didn't rank UNC .... Had WSU 5th and Duke 6th ... kinda surprised.

Yea, this week will be terrific for consolidating our gains if we take care of business. Voters who are slotting us in the clump around 10 will play catch-up and move us into the next tier - we might have difficulty accelerating our gains on a relative basis over the next week or two, but the raw total should continue to increase nicely.

This next week offers little chance for impressive victories, but the week after (home SMU, @Houston) offers 2 top 50 opponents and a chance to really improve with those pesky voters still holding WSU around #10.

Yep, more a matter of poll mechanics as voters gravitate towards the actual ranking and diminish their delta as an outlier. We'll pick up votes from our skeptics this week on this basis if we avoid stubbing our toe.

IF Purdue wins out this week, they will jump us. They play @Michigan (KP 32) and @Minnesota (KP 48). Both A games. Our Games vs ECU and Tulsa won't move the needle.

Duke has 2 Meh games also.

One guy commented that Duke should be called Uke, 'cause they got no D.

_ Shocker Mama _ Don't look up the Urban Dictionary definition of Uke. Do more people use that against their players during games?

Agreed but not really responsive. Duke would also almost certainly jump us with 2 wins this week if historical trends hold.

We'll still consolidate gains in raw totals if we take of biz on the road this week.

                • Duke has to play a road game this week. I'd hold off on annointing them.

                  • We've already been higher (#3) this season, but just reiterating some previously posted notes for historical perspective:

                    At #5 in this week's AP Poll, we are in rarefied air - WSU has previously been this high in just 5 previous seasons. 2013-14 (#2), 1981-82 (#2), 1964-65 (#1), 1963-64 (#4), 1962-63 (#5).

Awesome times we are living in.

Really hope they can keep their ranking in the teens (or better) and make the 2 matchups late in the season worthy of some quality national attention.

                  • Very little point spread between 5-9. Quality wins without losses will count.
