What the heck is that, rr -- a relevant question? How did that get in here?

What? You live in Omaha and you're a Cretin fan? Somabitch, where's that "ignore" button!:subdued:

Oh crap! It was a closely guarded secret!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Hmmm. Let's see now, MoValley John cheers for two schools, and both of them promptly leave the valley. I love irony.

Too bad he didn't cheer for Evansville and Drake.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Not so fast! I have a nephew that played for Drake.......

              Just not basketball.

There's still a solid chance your nephew was on the basketball team.

At this point 5-6 is probably the peak until the bottom of the league improves.
Thanks for correcting my wishful thinking; a quick look at KenPom ratings clears rose tinted glasses. Final 2017 KenPom ratings for ECU (191); Tulane (241) and USF (292) demonstrate these schools have to improve dramatically before the American ranks higher than 6th in conference rankings.

For those interested in the American possibly receiving 5 invitees to the dance - average 2017 KenPom ratings for Top 5 schools in the P6:

                      ACC - 12.8
                      B12 - 13.0
                      SEC - 20.2
                      BE - 23.6
                      B1G - 27.0
                      P12 - 28.8
                      AAC - 32.4 (including WSU)

                          • Poor Savannah State. Got the Wichita State curse early this year. We haven't even played them yet, and they're getting bumped to D-II.

Joking aside, will this happen this offseason if it gets approved? I guess it'd be a good thing since it won't count against our RPI...

                            • "Jim Delany says Big Ten discussing 20-game conference schedule" - ESPN Sports

                              Jeff *******. ESPN Insider
                              Jun 12, 2017

The Big Ten could be headed for a 20-game conference schedule, as commissioner Jim Delany told ESPN there have been discussions on the topic.

"Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany told ESPN there have been ongoing discussions about moving to a 20-game league schedule, and Michigan State's Tom Izzo feels as though it's heading in that direction....

The ACC announced last July that it intends to move to a 20-game league schedule beginning in the 2019-20 season...."

I see all the major conferences doing this, and we (the AAC) will follow this path as well.

I read that this would not take effect until Fall 2019, so we'll be stuck with the RPI anchor. I really wish we'd stay away from SWAC and MEAC opponents.
