Damn, condolences to Chris Lowery and his family. That's a tough story to read. Always had respect for his teams at SIU and the way they played even if his last couple seasons were tough going.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.

Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.

I have spent nearly 30 years working with children like Kahari. They teach you toughness and tenderness at the same time. God bless the Lowery family. Rarely do you attend a funeral service where the deceased was a perfect person.....These children are perfect people. Never an unkind word, pure in thought. Rest in peace young man. I have many close friends who are there to greet you. Run and play! You are free!

Today being the Catholic All Souls Day, I will offer one more written by St. Ignatius of Antioch:

Receive in tranquility and peace, O Lord, the soul of your servant who has departed this present life to come to you. Grant him rest and place him in the habitation of light, the abode of blessed spirits. Give him the life that will not age, good things that will not pass away, delights that have no end, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sincerest condolences, thoughts and prayers for Chris and his family. I'm sure Kahiri will be an inspiration to his family until they meet again.

I met Coach Lowery on a flight to Chicago. He was on a recruiting trip (for SIU). He looked so young, I didn't recognize him at first. He was very cordial and personable, and we had a nice chat.
I am so very sorry to hear of this.

So sorry. Puts sports and all the rivalry and vitriol BS in perspective. At the end of the day, it's only putting a ball theough the hoop. I will pray for him and his family.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

You never want to have to bury a child. Read the article the other day. So sad. Prayers go out to the Lowery family and the up coming season will probably be a welcome distraction for Chris and his family.
