  • Even as someone who probably disagrees with Seth a lot politically, can we keep the political opinions in the political section? My evaluation of someone's failure as a college basketball pundit/bracketologist has nothing to do with their political beliefs.

    • So will we move up this week? Or will people like Seth bump up unworthy P5 teams because they got a nice win this week?

I think we'll still move up to about #23.

I don't want politics to invade here. But Jamar's post was informative. If a sports columnist or talking head has a negative opinion about WSU because of donors we should know about it.

Just for the record I wasn't referring to Jamars post.

I come hear for poll updates, not critiques of poll rankers politics
That's a great topic, and should be on the politics page, not the pollwatchers thread
In the case of Seth Davis, he directly said his politics affect his view of WSU. Not of teams in general. Of WSU.

That's very relevant to this thread considering he is one of the AP voters.

            • I respect other people's political viewpoints but I follow people like Seth to get away from that nonsense. I had to unfollow him because of that and let him know that it wasn't the message but the messenger.

It's really not very smart on his part anyway because he will alienate half the population one way or another by tipping his cards, thus losing viewership on something he is making his living at.

I still think Shaka has eroded some support with his political statements he made publicly.

We agree. I'm tired of seeing politics woven into everything. I watch sports specifically to avoid politics. The only reason I brought this up was because of the hypocrisy that bleeds into his sports views. I could care less about Seth's or anybody's political views.

I mean the dude's twitter account is sethdavisHOOPS. Why would you post your political junk on an account named for "hoops?" Create another account for your political garb so you can at least avoid looking like a hypocrite for another upteenth time.

                • We're up to #20 on Soren Petro's ballot (from 810 WHB in KC).
We're right behind Butler and Va, and followed byIa St, Cincy, St Marys,
                  Mich, and Miami
Maryland dropped to 33, and creighton to 39 on his ballot

Have the birds sniffed the top 25 this year? If I'm reading the others column correctly they aren't in the AP top 40 at this point.

                        • And no room to move higher for the moment -- look at the poll point gap between #20 and #21.

I wonder if knows that the Koch's give boat loads of cash to a sizable chunk of his ballot? https://goo.gl/0PhtrI

                            • Great job Shocks!

My two cents: When you are talking about guys who cover Wichita State and woven into their coverage are some elements of the political landscape, that is gray enough that it's okay to talk about it in both forums. This is not a political debate. There is a good chance our association with Charles Koch is part of why certain people are not being objective with WSU basketball, and that is incredibly dumb, but it is relevant in the basketball forum.

                              • It is also possible to be in disagreement with a person's political views, yet be grateful for their philanthropy. I would even be willing to be their might be some employees at Koch Industries who don't march in lockstep with Koch's politics.

And while I understand JH4P's sentiment, often sports get political entanglements simply because it is a highly publicized platform, just like with celebrities.

All that said, putting my post back on topic, #21 is better than I expected! Jerry Palm is a tool.
