When Danny Manning was there, I think some of their big guys developed past whatever their natural growth would've been. The Morris twins, Thomas Robinson, Wayne Simien, and Jeff Withey, to name a few. It's tough to know how much of that was Manning, though.

I actually come down on the opposite side of this issue from many on here, I suppose. I believe Bill Self isn't a terrible talent-developer. His greatest successes came when he was relying on mature, developed players. In more recent years, as he has relied more heavily on freshmen, it seems like KU has struggled more. I'm just not sure how much guys like Wiggins or Anthony Davis are ever going to "develop" in their nine months of college basketball. I think it shows how good the recruiting classes (and, to be fair, coaching) have been for guys like Coach K and Cal that they have won championships with these freshmen.

For everything many on here seem to hate about Bill Self, it's actually remarkable how many similarities I find between him and Gregg Marshall (personality notwithstanding).
