I believe that almost all meniscus surgery done today is arthroscopic surgery because of the small amount of time to recuperate. I think that there are three ways to do it, and the chosen method depends on the amount of meniscus repair that is necessary. The doctor can either trim off the torn part of the meniscus, try to repair the injured portion of the meniscus, or remove the meniscus. Obviously, the third method is drastic and would only be done in the case of a large amount of damaged material (also bone to bone means a future seriously arthritic knee joint and serious blow to his basketball career).

4-6 weeks at this point in time is a setback, but for a player with a year in the system, the main negative is likely to be loss of conditioning work for a month or so.
Looks like a very common-sense approach was taklen in Canada. McDuffie took a few games off, checked out the knee, and then decided to go for the repairs. By the time official practices start, he should be able to go and will have some time to regain the conditioning required to go 25-30 minutes by November. Worst case seems to be that he might only be in condition to go 20 -25 minutes by the start of the season. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

For those of you who might be interested. Since the Carleton Raven win over Wichita State, the team has played two more games against NCAA Division 1 teams with wins over Arkansas Pine Bluffs (117-74) and Morgan State (113-62). Neither of these teams were very good and probably would have been ranked around 30th in our 47 team CIS basketball league. Also, of interest, neither of these teams have posted a word about their losses to Carleton on their websites, even though they have posted information about their other games in Canada. I guess that is one way to keep the fans back home happy!
Carleton has two games coming up against a Division 2 team, St. Thomas Aquinas. Apparently, they are a very good team who usually place high up at the end of the year in Division 2.

I don't hate McGill. They are a good team who is allowed to play physical basketball to offset their lack of athleticism and skills. This is not unlike how I played. If you foul a lot, aren't called on it, have some depth so fouls don't hurt you, you can change the game. In the past, WSU with more skill than McGill, has mucked up games, and played smart on offense limiting the opponents opportunities, and beating teams who were more athletic than they were.
