Thank God that Mike Kennedy can really paint a word picture of what's happening on the court. Not as good as seeing it, but we're blessed to have someone who actually describes the action instead of saying, "score, rebound, oh, what a great move" like they're used to up north.

Carleton Ravens played last night against Stetson University from Florida and won by nine. I had never heard of Stetson. They played a tough game and were very good defensively. Carleton looked slow and out of sync and won with some timely three point shooting. It will be an interesting game on Sunday between Wichita and Carleton but the Ravens will need to up their game considerably if they are to be competitive.

Carleton Ravens played last night against Stetson University from Florida and won by nine. I had never heard of Stetson. They played a tough game and were very good defensively. Carleton looked slow and out of sync and won with some timely three point shooting. It will be an interesting game on Sunday between Wichita and Carleton but the Ravens will need to up their game considerably if they are to be competitive.

That same Stetson team beat Quebec (Shocks play today) 72-67 on Thursday. Stetson plays in the Atlantic Sun (Florida Gulf Coast) and finished tied for last in 15-16.

To be honest, they were horrible last year, but played a more competitive brand of ball the last 5 games of the season. That being said, they only won 12 games, 8 if you're just counting Division 1 games.

Interesting that you mention Stetson U. Scholastically, it is recognized as a very fine university. It better be as there tuition ranges over $40,000 per year. They have in the past done very well in baseball. Stetson joined the Pioneer league for football and just brought it back after a long hiatus (57 years). Not a large university number wise, but it is to be noted that their student enrollment has increased around 25% from the mid-3,000 to mid 4,000 since bringing football back starting in 2014.

I wonder why the team didn't charter to Montreal. I know it isn't cheap to do so but with all the travel issues, that seems like it would have been a simpler solution.
