But has Turg gotten to a sufficient level to recruit players capable of competing with the likes of KU?

KU unfortunately is gonna win by double-digits. You can see it coming.
Nailed it like a split hog.

      • I haven't been that bored watching basketball since the last time I tried to watch an entire NBA game.

        • I must have been hallucinating last night because I switched on the game in the 2nd half and the Twerps were playing zone against kwho. Where is Mark and what have they done to him?

I don't know but apparently, he still hasn't reached a level of school to get farther in the tournament than he did at WSU.

Took him nine years to equal what his best finish ever was? 😕

now, now, mr. know it all. run along and find another leg to hump.

                • There is plenty I don't know. I don't know how dogs choose which leg to hump. I don't know what genetic chromosome gave Tekele the ability to jump out of the gym. I don't know why @ShockerFever: has that tattoo of a Blue Jay on the small of his back.

However, one thing I do know for sure. To say that Miami considered a round of 32 game vs WSU to be "their superbowl" in some fashion that their Sweet 16 game vs Villanova was not... well... such a statement is just about the stupidest use of an already over used term that I can imagine.

Actually, I think that's an unfair assessment. He's been extremely successful at bringing in players who commit to his style of play and who can compete in the Big 10. Granted, the Big 10 wasn't all it was cracked up to be this year, but the Terps have been competitive this year.

There's a reason it's called March Madness. Anything can, and does happen once the ball is tossed up at the beginning of the game. We wouldn't have the national recognition we now enjoy had this year's version of Ron and Fred played in the Gonzaga game during that FF run. THOSE guys were on fire and hit everything they shot during that 23 point scoring span.

Calling a coach a failure after losing a Sweet 16 game to what has been arguably tagged as the top team in the country is a bit extreme.

                    • Turgeon taking the WSU job was one of the best things that's ever happened to the program.

                      Both statements 100% true.

If I have to spell it out for you.

Turgeon stated when he was here that "at this level" the best we could ever hope was to win 1 game and possibly 2 in the NCAA tournament and I find it somewhat humorous that he has never made it further at his so called "higher level schools" while on the other hand we have been farther.

I did not call him a failure.

I have great respect for what Mark was able to do here but this observation is spot-on. One of the reasons that he left for A&M was that Larry Brown told him that "he was born to coach in Final Fours." I think Mark was happy here, understood how special Wichita was/is, and would have retired here. That said, he wouldn't ignore the advice of Larry Brown who has his eyes on greener pastures on the first day of a new job.

                          • I would never discount what Turgeon did for WSU, but my fandom is for WSU, not a particular person. Once he moved on from Wichita, then I ceased to care what successes he has.

                            • I think Turgeon did great at WSU. Not knocking the guy. But I also don't believe that Turgeon overachieved by any stretch while he was here.

I think 3 terrible hires made what he did seem like it was some Herculean effort. But let's not forget that we had just renovated Koch. The job was teed up and put there on a platter for the next coach to take and succeed.

Thank you MT, for being a comptetent coach.

Thank you for making the program attractive for GM.

Thank you GM for applying your vision and taking the program to the next level.

                              • Turgeon is a very good coach but I question whether he has what it takes to get to "the next level". Kinda like Marty Shottenheimer, he's good at lingering around the top but will he ever get over the hump?
