This is true. But even great teams have off nights. What the Valley does is it doesn't allow for a team to be human through the course of an 18-game season. If WSU has a couple bad shooting stretches, they all of a sudden have losses to CBI-level teams. That's what you're seeing right now.

The Valley sucks balls. We've done way more for this **** league than what we get in return. We have all risk, no reward in this league. Every other team is no risk, all reward. I'm tired of it.

Come on Bardo. I know you're working on it. Get us the **** out.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

Paul mother*****, POS Jansen. He is the WORST.

I don't think he called one foul on UNI the entire game. Seriously.

We had to play terribly to lose these games. We can't blame the Valley on that. Still room to get an at large despite all of our resume issues.

If not, let's just win the arch.

        • Plain and simple, this team did not come to play today. I turned to my wife at the first sight of them in the tunnel before coming out pregame and said "I don't like how tired they look, nobody has any bounce". My big question is simple, can we please PRETTY FREAKING PLEASE! put in some semblance of a zone offense? Just something that generates ball movement and thus defensive movement. Don't get me wrong, watching Fred dribble away 28secs while standing 30ft from the rim is very enjoyable....though I much prefer that to be in the last 2 mins and WSU up by 10+. When coach decides that he has to scheme to score, this team will again be top flight. Until then, its going to be a grind and crap shoot that this team can hit shots and beat a zone. 7 more games minimum against the zone....all in a row..with no room for error.

We did play terrible. That's my whole point. You can't play perfect basketball, every year, every game, all of the time. There are times when you play like crap or shoot like crap. It happens to everybody. KU at Oklahoma State, Maryland home to Wisconsin. Those are blowout losses. We lose by 3 to these anklebiters and it's end of days to everybody out there.

The Valley leaves no room for error. All risk, ZERO reward. **** it.

            • We were out of sync from the get go when the flag carrying cheerleaders ran out onto the court while the team was still in the tunnel. The timing was way off on that an never seem to get much better.

Actually, I thought the Shocks had them after coming back to tie the game at 44 helped a great deal by the energy of the crowd. I think most good teams would have. Unfortunately, we were not a good team today. In any case, if you hold an opponent to 53 points on your home court you should win.

I wonder if any of the Shocks' post players have figured out that Carlson is left handed or are they still clueless on that.

Today's game may have tilted the decision on Landry to play him this year if at all possible.

Usually, a game will have something you can point to as a silver lining. I guess today it was our 2nd half defense and our rebounding. But the game is called basketball and you still need to put the ball in the basket with some degree of competency to win games. That did not happen today.

I agree, both KU and OU each had a bad stretch, no harm done to them.

Complain (or more accurate, *****) about it all you want, it was absolutely the right call. FVV lowering his shoulder and initiating contact with the defender is just bad basketball.
He made bad decision after bad decision today. Most of it involved lowering his head an plowing into the paint, hoping for a bail out from the officials.
Maybe he gets that in a HS game, but not in this game and deservedly so.

                    That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

In all fairness, many poor decision were made by our floor general. However, I've watched the replay of the charge about 20 times. There was no "Lowering" of the shoulder. He did bring his non dribbling arm up to absorb the contact. That may be the "Contact". However, a defensive player was rewarded for a flop and that's what gripes me.

                      • Hey, there's the king of condescension stepping in to tell everybody how smart he is and that he and others in his profession don't make mistakes or get out of line. Be prepared. He'll be here until he can't explain away some bad calls, and then he'll be gone for a week or two.

                        • Oh, and to the crotchety old man in Section 118, row 17, that turned around and tried to shush me when I stood up and yelled, "Come on Shocks, D UP!" You're the reason I got even louder after that, and why I plan to be even louder on senior day.

Check their overall records and get back to me.

We lost two games to bad teams while holding the opponents to god awful offensive games. Doing that is much worse than a couple of "off nights." This is a team with an exploitable weakness that is head scratching because of the pieces involved.

For whatever reason, the WSU offense is struggling to play a complete game game against good competition. It has been years since an opponent could get WSU into a dry spell for significant stretches; unfortunately, it is happening a lot.

I just haven't seen enough from this team to assume they would pick up enough good wins while not having the offsetting losses if the competition was stiffer. With that in mind, the team is what it is and our best chance to receiving an at large was to steam roll mediocre competition. I was confident we would.

Watching a lot of the MVC competition during our non conference season set my expectation for total losses at two. I just wasn't that impressed. With up to seven games left I am a little nervous.

Other thoughts: for a while it seemed like Fred had his burst back and could get his shoulders past a defender. Lately his first step seems slow. Is anybody else seeing the same thing? If you don't have a defender on his heels it is hard to get the benefit of the doubt from officials.

This is what I was going to say. I watched this play several times when I got home because I wanted to see if what I thought was correct. There was no lowering of the shoulder by Fred. He aggressively went to the basket, while Washpun was running in a combination of back pedaling and running sideways. His fourth foul was a bail out by Janssen.

And that call killed the Shocks momentum and should've been Washpun's 4th foul, which certainly would've changed things.
