  • If anybody here thinks Wsu isn't a bubble team right now they are fooling themselves. We are 100% a bubble team, 1 win over a 90 rpi or better team so far and they are looking bad (unlv). National media is trashing Wsu on Twitter for the losses. Team needs to fix their issues and fast. Shooting, 3 point shooting, fouls, zone.
Wessell once again offensively is bad.

    • Pass, ball screen...dribble dribble, pass, hold the ball, ball screen again...dribble dribble dribble. Jack up a 30' three at the shot clock buzzer...hope and pray it goes in.

      • One really interesting fact about this game that I heard coach say afterwards.

UNI had a strong first half and scored 38 points against our poor defense. In the second half, they scored 15 points.

It's crazy to think we held a team to 53 after allowing 38 and still managed to lose.

Hold a team to 15 points in the second half and lose at home?

          lol
I agree, except I'm not LOL, I'm crying in my beer...

          • So.. My melt down:

            1) never like it when HCGM cries about stuff in the pre-game. It is like flashing back to some of MT's attitude issues.

            2) have no idea why we can't implement an offensive scheme for zone defenses. In excusable.

            3) our offense functions better when we look to involve the sophomores. When we ignore them, wide open, it usually ends in an offensive fouls or poor shots.

            4) we tend hit offesive walls after Fred or Ron driving Into no man's land on a fast break that gets closed down by the defense.

            5) I wouldn't have believed that we could be this bad on offense.

            6) HCGM is way TOO scared of fouls in time outs. These are tools that one has to impact outcomes and games. Use them.

That's what happens when you have 18 games against trash teams. 18 possible bad losses, 0 possible quality wins.

Grady does a lot of grabbing cuz he is clueless how to box out. Watch him. Terrible.

                    • We wouldn't have beaten any NIT or NCAA teams tonight, and it is because we have regressed. UNI didn't have a good game. They had a bad game, we just played even worse. We didn't just play badly or miss shots, we played selfishly, stupidly, and arrogantly. Shooting bad from the 3PT line happens; the solution is NOT to play hero-ball and shoot more 3s. Fred and Ron completely and totally forgot what made them good players, because it definitely isn't their ability to pass the ball around, stall, and shoot a 25 ft shot at the buzzer. I think we are THE worst 3PT team in the entire nation, not because our percentage is terrible but because when we miss when stop running any offense and just settle for bad 3s.

One of the critical components to beating a zone is outside shooting; if you don't have that, the zone just keeps taking a half step closer to the paint, making penetration/passes to the inside more difficult. I am really surprised by our outside shooting woes; I REALLY thought it would be our big strength this year. It disappeared like donuts at a weight watchers meeting...

Don't forget inability to penetrate, finish at the rim, stop dribble drives, post fouls, am I missing anything?
