Yeah, it's not been great this year. I kinda miss the 'early leaving' shaming video...

I have left early for almost every Shocker game. I enjoy the game, but when it is an obvious blowout, I would rather beat traffic.

To all those who stayed to congratulate EW and HCGM on their accomplishments, bravo! I can without a doubt say that those 6-7K got louder than I've heard 10.5K during some games. Truly an awesome experience!

I know this thread was started for entertainment purposes but it seemed to turn the corner awhile back. Please note that this post is NOT directed at anyone in particular, but I wanted to add my two cents. I am "above 40" (as are many of the people who sit around me). Guess which age group I notice more often than not exiting about the 4 to 6 minute mark. I wouldn't want anyone to strain to make the guess so I will tell you -- they are in their 20's and 30's. The "old people" jokes get tiresome, even if they are supposedly meant to be funny -- kinda.

                More often than not?

                You're stretching it.

Fever, I realize you think you are NEVER wrong, however, look around next time to really see who is leaving early. I'm not saying that there are no older fans who leave early, because there are. But just that they are not the only ones and many times they are in the minority.

I know that I'm guilty of posting in fun a few older people jokes. But I also posted some that apply to younger peeps, as well. But I can say that in the general area around my seats that it was mostly the "younger" people leaving, and the older folks stayed until the end. There are good reasons that some people have to leave early and some not good reasons. It is a universal issue at every sporting event. Alabama football fans complain. Soccer fans in Europe complain. Everyone every where complains about this. Well I guess the ones that leave early don't complain about it :) Everyone chill. This thread was just for fun.

You know what boys and girls...who gives a shat either way. Good God, some of us need to get off our high horse and just realize there are two types of people in this world; those who like Neil Diamond...and those that don't.

Opps...there are also those people that leave Shocker games early...and those who don't. I personally would, under no circumstances, leave a game early. I once brought a friend of mine to a game, because my wife couldn't go. It was a blow out victory and at the final media timeout my friend said "game, set and match...let's go." I stood up reached in my pocket for my keys, placed them in his hand and said "I will see you at the car." My friend needless to say stayed by my side until the end of a 30-point spanking.

I don't judge one way or another. The people that leave early pay through the same system as I do to get in the building. If they leave early, so what. I'm sure some of them might of yelled louder than I did at some point. BFD...get off your pedestal people and complain about something that matters.

What I'm getting out of this is that you need to be a better fan.

I think we give demerits for leaving early and award points for age so we can effectively measure fandom. Since I'm in my 60's and stay until the end I am effectively more of a fan than someone in their 30's who stays. Someone in their 50's who leaves 5 minutes early is less of a fan than a 40 year old leaving 2 minutes early etc.. No bonus points for spending the night. Completely on the honor system. Maybe we can do badges?
