The only way the MVC will get past the midmajor categorization is to have 2 teams make the field year after year or at least a good shot every other year. A one bid league is hard to argue for to be major. The MVC needs to stop being a cycle of 1-2 teams cycling between their 4 year development of a great team. I've really been hoping for Illinois State to stop playing so damned inconsistently, and really hope Jacobsen and UNI can start to snowball some consistent talent, rather than their cylical 4-5 year timeframe of going from Tournament to mediocre back to Tournament caliber. With the loss of Creighton, it's really up in the air on who will keep longevity of success other than WSU currently.

A team with the right coaching fit that has good support is Bradley. Man does it suck to have them be bottom dwellers. Please Bradley, get better. Having 2-4 strong programs will be where the Valley shucks the mid major title.

I love a good trash talking about the teams in the Valley, but when it comes to non conference ability, I cheer for every MVC team. It can only help to strengthen WSU when the conference is strong. Now when it comes to conference time, routing for any of them only when it benefits the Shockers.

WARNING: A dead horse will be flogged in the following paragraph!

They desperately need to add some decent teams to the conference and turn it into a two tier relegation conference. It's really our conference's only hope, I think, other than getting lucky.

No they won't, not quite. Give it another two to three years.

keeping good coaches in the Valley is the key to having a league that can consistently put 2 to 3 teams in the tourney year in year out. WSU with Marshall and the program we have in place now its safe to say we have a shot to be a player in the tourney hopefully every year. UNI with Jacobson, I think can be anotheir team that seems to now know that basketball is their bread and butter, it looks as though they are now willing to put the money into the progam to keep it near the top of the Valley. ISUr has the backing and fanbase, and good talent, they need to step up and be more consistent. Hopefully Bradley and SIU can get it going again. I also like Lansing at Indiana State, good coach and usually he gets the most out of his talent, I think they will be much improved this year, they have some good young talent. Gotta keep the good coaches to build strong progams to have a strong league. Should be an intresting year.

ISUb and UNI both have good guards, an undersized PF, but nobody else in the front court. Someone has to step up this year in the post. Fortunately both tams have several options that could rise to the occasion from obscurity.

Illinois State has some length and athleticism. Muller has improved every year so if he can stop losing talented players they could become a force. Loyola is a poor mans Illinois State, but I think they will play better team ball. The Aces are poised for a top three finish followed by a drop back to 8-10 or 7-11 in 2016-17.

I think Drake and Bradley are on the right path. If those two coaches can elevate their program in the next couple of years, the MVC will be okay.
