i'm anxious to see taylor play. i don't know why he is flying under the radar. he sounds like a top flight kc pg to me. yes, he's a freshman, but he isn't mentioned in the preseason dribs and drabs of reporting that i've read (but mcduffie and shamet are). 'shockers are onto something really good with him, it seems to me. if shamet is a high jump track athlete, isn't taylor a 40 yd dash track athlete?

Shaq and Grady will get their fair share of starts I think at the 4 and 5.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I think Taylor is under the radar for several reasons: he's skinny. He is overshadowed by top 100 freshmen Shamet and McDuffie. He's overshadowed by transfers Frankamp and Grady. Fred will play 30 mpg. If Fred plays 30 MPG and Ron plays 30 MPG, then there is only 20 minutes available for back-up guards; Frankamp and Shamet are more likely to get those 20 minutes, plus Brown can play the two as well.

Bottom line is that Taylor will play 8 to 12 minutes per game at PG if he can beat out Shamet, Frankamp, and Baker for those minutes. He's not likely to make a splash until his sophomore season.

i would expect him to play 7 mpg. but he will be a good one.

                    The Geriatric Lineup

                    1) Van Vleet
                    2) Baker
                    3) Wessel
                    4) Grady
                    5) Wamukota
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

I hope you're wrong on FVV and Baker's minutes for the season. Last year, Henderson and Holland played in 28 and 27 games, 6.8 mpg and 8.5 mpg respectively. Those two, plus Simon and Walker, played just over 500 minutes or about 14.5 mpg over 35 games (Cotton probably averaged 1.5-2 mpg at the 1/2). So, I hoping that Frankamp, Shamet, Taylor, and possibly even a little Brown early in the season can do more than that.

FVV played 31.5 and Baker 32.7 mpg. During the first third of the season , I expect those minutes to hold for those seniors. After that, I'm hoping for a lot more help than last year.

A KC-area poster watched Taylor in HS and thought thatTaylor was one of the better PG's out of the KC area in recent memory. In Taylor's Sr year, that team didn't have a quality SG, but did have a decent backup PG. Taylor was moved to SG.

If all that is true, then Taylor was evaluated as a SG when his best position is PG. That pretty much puts a player way off the radar. The Shox may have found a guy who was improperly evaluated by the scouting services. VanVleet was backing Armstead in March. We'll see if Taylor repeats that pattern.

There's a lot of competition for backup minutes at PG. Baker is solid, Frankamp is a possibility, and reports from summer say that Shamet sees the court well and can make some uncanny passes to open players. VanVleet didn't have anything resembling that level of competition for minutes.

This is probably the toughest year in the Marshall era for backup minutes at PG. If anybody can take Baker out of that role, we have a WINNER. I don't think we're going to have any real idea about Taylor until some time next year.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I agree with this. I've posted a couple of times about how thrilled I am to get Taylor. I think having a lefty at the point is going to be a real ball-buster for most teams to handle. Is it November yet?

The trick is to put the pill under your tongue and show the nurse that it's gone. After they lock you in your room you can take it out and put it with its friends under the bed. That's the only way you can know what's real.
