  • Womens home finale today

Please if you have the ability go out and honor our women's team today and their outstanding senior class. We have a hometown girl, another who has fought through serious physical adversity to become one of the best all around players in the league and also in Alex, the best player in the history of our program. This team, like the men, leaves it all on the floor, and also like the men, usually walk off the court as victors.

I have grown to like women's basketball solely due to Jody and her teams.

    Thank you Lady Shcokers!

I will be there. The Lady Shocks have achieved many program firsts over that last several years. I win today would be the 1st time in school history that the Shocks completed an undefeated home schedule.

Having both the Shocker men and Shocker women go through the season undefeated at home in the same season would be a special accomplishment.

my big gripe is.. why aren't the lady shockers ranked?
      23-4

loss to a 17-10 Eastern Washington
loss to a 27-2 Florida Gulf Coast
      loss to a #11 24-4 Tennessee
      loss to a 18-8 Drake

17-1 record in last 18 games

      wins over power conference schools:
      Ohio State
      Clemson
      Kansas State
      Creighton

is Alex Harden the greatest WSU women's basketball player?

Those things are always debatable and it is difficult to compare players of different generations. However, Alex is certainly in that discussion. My personal opinion is that she is the greatest all-around player in Shocker history.

She will probably end up 1st in scoring, 3rd in assists, 7th in rebounding, 2nd in steals and 5th in blocked shots.
        See: http://shockernet.net/forum/showthre...ndidates/page3

This from a girl who did not earn a start until late in her freshman season and played only about 18.5 minutes per game her freshman season.

Alex has played all 5 positions at point or another during her career on both sides of the ball but she has primarily been used as a point guard the last 3 seasons even though I don't think that was what Jody probably had in mind for Alex when she recruited her.

Alex is has been the clear leader of this team the past two years in a very Fred Van Vleet manner (see the post comparing their MVC stats this year). She has led the Shocks to their only 2 MVC Regular Season Championships and their only 2 MVC Tournament Championships and their only 2 NCAA appearnances in school history. The Shockers are working on their 3rd consecutive MVC Championship as I write this.

She is a 2-time MVC Defensive Player of the Year. She should have been MVC Player of the Year last year and got jobbed by the Valley voters and if the Valley voters know anything at all about basketball (that is in doubt) she should be the MVC Player of the Year and the MVC Defensive Player of the Year this year.

I will say this, if we were picking teams from current and former Shocker WBB players to start a team and I had the first pick I would pick Alex Harden.

Got to head out to the game now.

        Go Shocks!

Its just amazing the success the program has had under JA when there was NOTHING before. At least mens basketball had some tradition before the recent resurrection. The women had nothing.

Jody Adams has done nothing short of an incredible job as head coach. While less well-known than the men's program, she has established a very similar pattern. Phenomenal success.

We can just have Gregg coach both WBB and MBB now then?

Unfortunately it is true thanks to how bad the MVC is in women's basketball. You haven't seen bad RPI drag until you look at this conference in women's basketball.

No, we let Lynn Marshall coach the women's team.
