I big thank you to Koch Industries. Now, as mentioned before, do it right or don't do it at all until you have the funds to do it right the first time. The original renovation and Intrust Bank (if I'm not mistaken), had to be downsized because funding couldn't meet the ambitious plans and costs overran the budget. I'm hoping that the administration, in their hurry to get this thing built, won't green light the project resulting in a less than desired outcome. It's all about the Benjamins right now so let's hope we get more than enough.

Wait a minute. Can we really accept funds from a man with such a hard-working, population-employing, conservative, capitalistic ideology? I want to be able to sleep at night, you know...

Here, let me help you out here since you so skillfully replied to me within the quote tags of my post.

Since this project appears to be all privately funded, maybe this time you can fund the project to meet the upgrades you deem appropriate, or at least donate your firms time to design and draw up the working plans for the project.

That way you have skin in the game and can rightly say...
What is it with this forum and the thought police? What you see above is my opinion, nothing more. Critical thinking skills are what helps someone not to be a lemming, and what contributes to a discussion forum that is vibrant and interesting, as opposed to staid.

I very well might make a contribution to this project, but it was just launched 3 hours ago as far as I can tell, so no, sweetcakes, I haven't given anything yet.

And rest assured the architects and engineers who produced what you see in the renderings package were compensated for their time, likely at full market value. It is not as if they developed this work as a charitable pro bono contribution. Criticism of their design is fully appropriate in the exercise of free enterprise.

Lastly, unless you can say you are a WSU alum, alumni association member, SASO member, and season ticket holder - or better yet improve upon on that list - you're best advised to step away from the "skin in the game" trash talk.

I thank the people who pay big money to sit down low and courtside in CKA, but I for one think those seats actually kind of suck, especially considering their price. I wish in this facilities fund drive we just kicked off that they included a plan to somehow "square off" the courtside seats so they run parallel and much closer to the court.

TCU has a smaller version of CKA (with the same related problem), and they did just that recently by lowering the court.

I don't think it looks that bad.

The question remains (at least in my own noggin): Does the distance from the court for high-dollar "courtside" seats in CKA limit their value? I think this is as relevant of option to employ (for seat license revenue) as the Frankenstein suites that were just revealed in renderings.
How many seats were added? I recall reading a Dallas paper article that implied the capacity (7200?) would not increase.

My thrust on that particular angle is not increased capacity, but improving sightlines and appearances.

I agree. Even if it doesn't add more seats, it's still better overall.

But look at this mess - a miscarriage of architecture. Part of the same team that brought us the steaming pile of unsymmetrical design that is IBA, stands ready, willing, and able to work that same magic on our jewel CKA. No, no, NO! Please make it stop, and then kill it with fire!

Wasn't there a concern that lowering the floor at Koch Arena might possibly encountering some water problems? Seems like I also recall they were concerned about that possibility before installing the current in-ground volleyball net systems a number of years back. Need to make sure we don't convert Koch Arena to the Koch Aquatic Center especially since we don't field a swimming and diving team.

The top rows above row 31 were ripped out for the camera platforms in 108.

Think those guys are reseated on other side?

This time those tickets holders probably be eliminated

Yeah, I think I remember those concerns that you are talking about.

I saw this and wondered if you all would love this technology in CKA? LED Lighting is the future and would certainly enhance the atmosphere. Have no idea how much this would cost however to install this at the Koch. Since I haven't been to the Koch since last year's Seton Hall game, is this already installed?

This is the unedited demo light show we put together for Mackey Arena and Purdue Athletics staff. It was intended to show them a range of options and capabil...

We are getting LED lighting in Koch Arena next year. I can confirm that.
