Yes. Our wins looked a lot better at the time in retrospect. Syracuse and LSU were ranked top 10 iirc (and definitely top 25) and Mason was well regarded after their final four run, but none made the NCAA tournament that year. Still 4 road wins (Wyoming was the last) was a very solid start.

Not yet. I'm sure Marshall has vetted him appropriately.

It was an internal team issue. IIRC, one teammate slept with another teammate's girlfriend (or something along those lines).

Thought so. Really sucks, because that could have been a special season.

The bench for that team never amounted to anything... Turgeon had a four year recruiting period at WSU / A&M that had a combined scoring average of less than 10 points a game combined... The team was limited.

Remember what happened during the previous WSU successes. NCAA investigations and sanctions. Now, I realize that the NCAA is no longer on KU's doorstep, but that has been a consistent pattern that has played out through history. What if CF is being inserted as a sleeper agent who will then bring all sorts of false charges on Marshall? What would his payoff be? Lifetime season tickets to Allen Fieldhouse for his family for starters? Inclusion in the inner sanctum of KU athletics? Would he sacrifice his NBA potential, fall on his metaphorical sword, to ensure the continued glory of the KU program in comparison to it's poor southern cousin? Even so, it's a big gamble for KU. Times must be desperate to conceive of a plan like this. If it fails, they may well cede their ownership of the City League.

Redshirting doesn't have anything to do with it. CF has used 1.5 years of his 4 years of eligibility, as of his departure from KU in 12/2014. He will then have an NCAA mandated 1 year to burn in no-mans-land while he pays his own way, and acts as a shadow member of the squad. Then, when 01/2016 arrives he will officially be on the WSU roster, where he will have 2.5 years of eligibility remaining - meaning roughly a 1/2 season of play via spring 2016, then two full seasons thereafter.

Technically there is no such thing as half a year of eligibility. He has 3 years of eligibility remaining, but since he has to sit out 2 full semesters after transfer it's impossible to get 3 full seasons played. Had he played in 1 minute of even a preseason game at KU this year, an entire year of eligibility would have been used. That's why he announced the transfer and left the team just days before their first exhibition game instead of waiting to see how much playing time he received during the first semester games and making the transfer decision at that point. Since he attended class and practices at KU this semester he can't start the 1 year transfer waiting period until this semester ends.

Had this all gone down a year ago Frankamp would be eligible to play starting with the Dec 13th game against Detroit, the day after first semester finals.
