If they announced Embiid isn't playing for sure, and that happened, I could suppose.....but otherwise, yeah, no.

I am really hoping that Coastal Carolina ends up being your 16-seed opponent...and if that's the case, please beat them by 50+...(Winthrop Nation would greatly appreciate that).

What a remarkable year. We will watch conference tournaments all week not only knowing that we have a bid completely secure, but that we have a NUMBER 1 SEED locked up.

          Just unbelievably special and cool.

Gregg Marshall is a competitor and I'm sure he would be glad to smoke Coastal Carolina Roosters like pulled chicken in solidarity with his Eagles.

You do the pulling for us and we'll do the smoking

Marshall wants to ensure we win the game. Beyond that....

Has any other coach in NCAA tournament history coached both a 16 seed and a 1 seed?

Marshall has seen the bottom side of the boot in that game. There may come a time for making a point in the tournament, but it is not against the 16 seed.

Every one? There are almost 100 brackets out there, fan. Besides, there's only one that matters, and it won't be out for almost two weeks -- and nobody who's filling time and space by offering a bracket right now has anything to say about the real one.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to become a Midwest regional homecoming. Unfortunately, the actual geographic aspect of the NCAA "regional" basketball tournaments has long since gone out of existence. Only the #1 and #2 seeds are somewhat protected to stay close to home. Beyond that, anyone could be sent anywhere.

It'll be out in about 5 or so days, selection Sunday is this upcoming Sunday.

I kind of feel the same way about Ok St., but I would also love to see Cotton shut down Marcus Smart!

I think KU is just about locked in as a #3 seed at this point. I think they'd need to win the B12 tourney and get some help to make it back to a #2, just too many teams ahead of them now.

For all the seemingly good wins Larry Brown's club has, there is one big number that is working against it: 289, which LiveRPI.com shows as SMU's non-conference SoS. The committee has been known to knock teams for that (see Colorado 2011, Maryland 2013, and Pittsburgh getting lower seed in 2013). By the way, Jamie Dixon certainly didn't learn anything from last year, as his team's non-conference SoS this year is another poor rank of 225.
A loss to Houston on Thursday would give them reason to sweat it out on Sunday.

I have never once in my lifetime been able to completely relax and have zero concerns whatsoever about my beloved Shockers in the two weeks leading up to Selection Sunday (well I guess in the 90s but that was for the wrong reasons).

                              This is amazing.

                              Enjoy the ride my friends.

The closest I got was Bill Hodges. He rode Larry Legend to a 1 seed in his first year as a head coach and then fell off a cliff. He lost in the A-Sun championship game in back to back years to teams that earned 16 seeds. Although that is the opposite of the path Marshall is taking.
