Bares fans (I am sure just a select, special few in their ranks) throwing out the cheater card are obtuse. Essentially, every player at WSU has significantly upped his national profile from prior to WSU arrival to current by simply allowing himself to be malleable by 3G and the coaching staff. Save for FVV, we have no other players that were nationally known quantities coming out of HS, and we certainly don't have a cupboard stocked with HS AA's or Burger Boys. We do have some guys who were legit JC players, but it is not uncommon for non-blue blood programs to snag those types of players.

3G and staff have developed talent, not necessarily signed talent.

Exactly! That, and character judgements from fans of Kyle Weems carry very little weight with me.

What part of Kyle Weems character do you question? I get that he was a thorn in your side at times (believe you beat him more often then not) but what on earth did he ever do to have you question his character?

most shocker fans cant stand him because of his on the court antics (throat slashing, chest pounding, ect.) Im sure hes a good guy tho.

Kyle was a little more of a showman than some people here cared for. People still haven't forgotten some of his antics, especially the throat slashing. Most of us think of him as a toned version of a toned down version of Marshall Henderson. He seemed to turn it off once Cuonzo left, though.

Shocker fans have a sore spot for Weems because:

-He developed into a solid college player, one from Kansas who didn't wear a WSU uni.
-He seemed to have a Superman night every time he faced WSU.
-He could at times get a little pompous, but not in a way that was historically memorable or anything. Just enough to piss you off when he wasn't on your side of the ball.

That's really the source of the rub in a nutshell.

I'll say it. I liked Weems, he turned into a beast at SMS.

There are good reasons he didn't end up at WSU, one I think had to do with how HCMT projected KW and two, his lack of size and a jump shot in HS.

It really surprised me he didn't end up in Lawrence for his 5th year, and for that I give him props.

There was nothing wrong with Kyle Weems. We make fun of him because of rivalry. I think it's a mistake to question his character. He was great for the Valley and he was surely a thorn in WSU's side. Frankly, I wish he would have had the opportunity to experience more success than he did. Screw the Trees for blowing his junior season... They messed up ours too. If we played you in that title game, both of us go dancing regardless of who wins if I remember right.

We have a few guys this year who do the same stuff Weems did as far as antics so its pretty unfair to judge him over the throat slashing and whatever else he did. Great player.

I mean look at the Valley now? This conference needs more Kyle Weems type players. There is a whole team's worth of transfers who have left this conference to suffer. 6 or 7 solid players who left their teams at the first sign of trouble and now our conference has dropped in stature.

Kyle Weems stuck it out for his university and stayed like a man. He made a sacrifice to stay true and he deserves respect.

Let us have out fun at his expense, but that was a good kid.

Also, I hate the Bears... in a disrespectful, yet loving way :)

The put it in the deep freeze play of the game. You actually never know when that happens until after the game is over but Tekele's 3-pointer with 17:18 remaining in the game put the Shocks up 46-27.

I can hear 3G now. "If we can hold them to 45 we win." Well Coach, you did, you won and you and the Shocks are indeed Mighty.
