Gotta give your team a chance for a put back.
That being said, I like playing for the last shot in a tie game. Giving your team a chance for a put back is also giving the other team a chance to steal the game.

If the other team can score coast to coast after getting a contested rebound with less than 2 seconds left then good for them and "crown their ass" but I've seen too many offensive players get the rebound, get the put-back up and in, but being too late because the guard didn't shoot it with enough time on the clock. The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Meh, if you shoot it with 0.0 you give the other team a 0% chance to win. If you shoot it with 2+ seconds left you're giving yourself another 10% or so chance of winning. Depends on if that 10% is worth giving the other team a chance to win or not.
I've always been a fan of putting the ball through the net with 0.0 on the clock. At the very least, you should shoot for less than .7.

Your 2 second tip in theory is counter to this strategy, executing your strategy presents the other team with an opportunity to win the game with a new last shot - witness Ennis' last second half court shot that won the game for Syracuse.
