Shaq's h.s. resume was more impressive than J.T.s was. It's too early to tell now but maybe.

At this point I don't see a lot of PT for Shaq this year so I agree a RS year may be the best thing for him.
Yeah, it doesn't sound like Ria'n Holland will redshirt.

Bowles’ absence means freshman Ria’n Holland and sophomore wing Ron Baker will work more at point guard. Junior wing Tekele Cotton is also on call.

“Ria’n gets a crack,” Marshall said. “(Baker) hasn’t run much point, but he can.”

I see Darius Carter playing the PF and center position this year.

I hope not too much. A 6'7" center isn't something you really want to see much of.

Phil Thomasson was a hard working kid with a surprising vertical, but we all know what our record was with him at the 5.

No Tekele Cotton at Point? I think that is how Gregg sees it.

Durley was a 6'7" center and he was better than serviceable. Carl Hall was probably 6'7" too and he did a nice job as
                the 5 too.

I might add that I hope that C.J. can do the job at Center because I prefer a 6'9" 251 lb center.

I did notice that in the article, the writer did mention Cotton as being available, but it didn't say that Gregg mentioned him. Maybe he is a possibility if they need to go 4 deep or if Rian doesn't do the job and they need a 3rd.

I don't expect to see Carter playing much C this year, but I believe he has a little more talent around him than Thomasson did. This team also doesn't have any self-imposed limitations as to its "level."

In the video I saw, 3G mentioned Cotton as an option.

Thomasson never should have been a center. That was him playing out of position. Durley may have played some center, but was a PF that would have rather roamed outside. If we're relying on a 6'7" guy in the post, the odds of us competing nationally go down. We can still dominate in the Valley with that kind of center, but it becomes harder to do in the NCAA. And if we're taking an inch away from Hall, that makes Carter more likely to be 6'6" and even more concerning if we're relying on him to play much in the middle. And I'm not big on having a 6'8" center either.

Perhaps, but he STILL played center. Blair and Ellis played the PF. Also, I expect Carter to play a lot of 4 and 5, backing up both positions. Cle at the 4 for 25 minutes a game. Kadeem at the 5 for 25 minutes a game. Carter at the 4 for 15 minutes and at the 5 for 5-10. That leaves 5-10 minutes for CJ. We still have the possibility of 6-7 Shaq (that many were saying should be the back-up center over 6-9 Chadrack) in the mix.

                              Shaq is shrinking now?

I don't think so. He has been consistently listed at either 6-7 or 6-8. The official roster has him at 6-7, 275.
