The really great thing about this is that we are really loaded with talent and 3G is going to earn his keep juggling playing times.

I think we're going to see two of Baker, Cotton, VanVleet, Wessel, or Bowles on the court for 90%+ of the minutes. That gives the Shox 2 PG's on the court. Marshall worked that to perfection in the NCAA's.

That player list wasn't that long until I remembered that Wessel played some PG in HS. That makes 5 guys on the roster who understand and can execute the role of PG. Now that I've added Wessel to the list the % should be 100% - not 90%.

Wiggins and Green could end up backing Early at the 4 in foul situations. Add Carter to that list in the second half of the season.

Our post player doesn't have to have a great season. That's a good thing because I don't have a lot of confidence in Lufile and Morris is a Fr.

We've got a probable NBA first-round pick at 4/3. Then we've got Baker, Wessel, Cotton, and VanVleet on the perimeter. I propose that we call them the Fab 4 - and we've got the Fab 4 for 2 years. That's just the known quantities on the team.

I know that Hall and Armstead played huge roles in getting the Shox to the F4. I know that there's a certain element of luck in getting that far. I think the Shox break the school record for W's in a season next year.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

That would shock me. I think FVV and Early are the only two people absolutely locked in as starters.

I figure that Baker, FVV, and Cotton, get almost all the minutes at the 1 and the 2.

Do fans still not believe in our lock-down defender? Marshall is all about D and our lock-down defender will start. End of discussion.

Sorry. Don't want to end it, but add to it.

Our lock-down defender isn't just a one side of the court player. As we know, he got off to a slow start due to nagging ailments. However, over the last 20 games, including the NCAA, he shot 21-43 (.488) from behind the arc. For the season, averaged 6.5 ppg and 3.9 rpg and numerous "jump out of your seat" dunks.

No knock, just facts. While Evan was starting most of his 8 early season games, he played only 19 mpg with 5.5 ppg, 1.8 rpg, and shot only 1 FT.

Completely agree. I love Evan's toughness, but he lacks on defense and in ball handling. He was the guy other teams left to double Carl so he was able to hit some wide open 3s. He's not close to the same caliber player as Ron yet. I think if Wiggins can figure some things out this summer he'll be as much in the mix as Wessell.

I love a man, who speaks with facts.

I am somewhat astonished to learn that Cotton shot 48.8% from the three line, during the last 20 games.

It doesn't seem possible because I am so tainted by some of his ugly shots, which occurred earlier in the season.

Gregg was bragging on Evan's defense when he was playing earlier this year. If I recall, he called Baker and Wessel both close to lock down defenders (if they weren't there yet they weren't far away he said) but they aren't as good as Tekele. Evan has good catch and shoot skills, but is not a slasher. Baker is good at just about every basketball skill. I still think that Nick has the best scoring skills of all of them but he has to gain strength, defense, and be willing to sacrifice his body on defense if he wants to move in front of them.

I'm 80-90% confident that our starting lineup next year is FVV, Baker, Cotton, Early, and Coleby. I believe plenty in our "lock-down defender."

I'm not confident enough that I'm willing to give that a 100% lock, though. I think FVV and Early are the only people I'd be close to 100% on as starters for next season. Those two are clearly the best options at their position and I don't believe anything but injuries would keep them from starting.

I would think you would be safe in your second group of FVV and Early as projected starters.

I can see Evan Wessell becoming a very important cog as a 6th man. Listed at 6'5", 201 lbs.

I am old enough to remember another 6th man who was listed at 6-5, 203lbs who was very highly thought of:

                          Evan Hondo Wesselicek!

I say we break the record once we win our first round NCAA game.

Take away 2 Creighton losses and at least 2 lower-tier Valley losses and replace them with wins and you head into the Tournament with 30 wins, a first place MVC finish and our first Valley Tournament Championship. No way Evansville sweeps us next year. Barring injury we should stomp this years record.

Call me optimistic, but I think it could happen.

I didn't think Marshall would increase his number of wins last season. I'm not going to be fooled again. It will be more than 30 wins next year.

                                This is what I'm thinking.^^^

All of the last 3 seasons I have been wrong and under sold the next year. Something's gotta give and it's going to be me.
