Thinking about how everyone was saying the Zags were overrated. That very well may be, but even at that, how many other teams would they have beaten on Saturday? They still would have beaten most, if not all the other 8/9 seeds, and 7/10 seeds IMO.
They didnt play poorly. We just played that great in the last 8 min. They hit shots too. How many Pangos 3s punched us in the gut?
I dont understand why, i mean I do, everyone in the media jumping in them and the tourney officials for a crappy bracket.
The Zags would have beaten a lot of teams Saturday. They just couldnt beat us.
And as well as we played, we still werent playing as well as we could. Our rebounding on the defensive end was not characteristicly Shockers. We fouled way too much and were still able to win.
Here's hoping we clean that up against Lasalle and leave no doubt."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

My colleagues believe he did travel and was a huge non-call we benefited from. What say you?
I did worry about a traveling call. Not because I thought he traveledd, but because it was the appearance of a travel.

I don't believe I have pop ups blocked (I don't see the warning that it's blocked) but when I click the download button it just directs me to the Quicktime page and starts playing the file, never giving me the option to start the download. Thanks again for all the help!

I'm sick of hearing how Gonzaga was overrated as a way to slight WSU. That team wasn't the best in the country, but they were one of the top 5 or 6. So now the Shockers go on to face LaSalle, and if they win, that won't matter because they were a play in team for crying out loud. And of course this run started with a win over an overrated Pitt team with no offense from the overrated Big East, right? When is the first possible matchup against a team that WSU could beat and get some respect that isn't immediately followed by a "but the other team sucks"?

I'm actually at peace with some of the national media who believe this. I know GM is telling the team this making that chip on our shoulder bigger. Just win. The more you do the more it goes to show that this was not an anomaly, but legit.
The more I see Ron Baker out on the court, the more I am convinced how much he meant to the team and how much he was missed when he was injured. I am totally blown away how fast it appears he has gotten his legs underneath him and the amount of rust he's knocked off. I had no clue how better this team would become with him back in the line-up. And I don't think he's 100 percent yet either.
I hope the Shox just keep it going and continue to make the doubters doubt themselves about how they perceive us.

People love throwing Gonzaga away as overrated, but they were 32-2, and neither of those 2 losses were what I'd consider "legitimate" -- one was without Olynyk, and the other was Butler's insane win where they stole the in-bounds pass from Gonzaga and floated some amazing shot off just as the buzzer hit. 999 times out of 1000 that Butler win never happens.
I don't care what conference Gonzaga is in, nobody dominates a league like that in today's game. We had the first legitimate win over Gonzaga all year.
Most of the bitching about Gonzaga is whether they should be a 1 or 2 seed. Regardless, they were heavily favored over us, and they were 8-1 over tournament teams this year, with their only loss in that freak game with Butler.
It's the same stupid argument that essentially says going .500 in the ACC is better than going undefeated in a mid-major conference. I watch a ton of ACC play ... I had absolutely no doubt Wichita State would have been the third best team in the ACC this year.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

I also think we would have beaten any #1 seed other than Louisville shooting like that. Louisville has good enough defense that I think the game would have been very different. Put us up against Indiana or Kansas with us shooting 50% from 3 and I think we win every time.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'

Both teams made big play after big play in a punch-counterpunch battle. There were very few bad plays by either team. Mal had one turnover when he tried to force a pass inside and both teams missed a few free throws. Gonzaga had the inbound disaster and the overthrow of the long pass to Olynyk. Other than that it was pretty much one plus play after another by both teams. The Shocks were near perfect though and Gonzaga was only very good.
I hope we don't have to duplicate that performance again because I'm not sure we can.

Carl goal tended the layup by Pangos following a steal at the 11:53 mark giving Gonzaga a 49-41 lead and capping a 12-0 Gonzaga run which was followed by the under 12 timeout.
Gottlieb's comment was: "Wichita State is coming apart at the seams"
3G must be a pretty good seamstress because from that point on the Shockers were simply superb (and Gonzaga wasn't too far behind them either).Last edited by 1972Shocker; March 26, 2013, 04:35 PM.
