  • I thought wiggins played good defense when I could make out who was who on my crappy internet feed.

        • One major difference between this game and last is that we have had AMPLE opportunity to learn how to crack the 2/3 zone code. When we saw ISUb the first time, that was the first time that major ch|nk in our armor was exposed so obviously. Since then we have seen 2/3 zone, 2/3 zone, 2/3 zone, and more 2/3 zone thrown at us. But in all honestly I wasn't even paying attention if that was their tactic against us last night, or if they changed it up.

          • Despite a couple of defensive lapses by Nick last night, I think he is playing better lately. Early in the game, Arop made Nick look like a 5th grader on a drive to the basket. Nick seems to be more aggressive on defense and has a greater awareness.

Even though his shot has not been going down, he is making more drives to the basket. It suggests to me that he is getting more comfortable. Since his minutes are rising, maybe Coach Marshall is getting more comfortable too.

Does any of this make sense? Or am I way out in left field?

Is the juco breaking in period about to end for Nick?

P.S. - I guess his minutes are not rising as much as I thought. In the last four games, his minutes have been 16, 21, 15 and 22.

If thats the reason I would be pi**ed off if I was an isub fan. We have our share of "others" that come to our games but not to the tune like that.

He was huge at times, then poof...Brain Fart. Glad he contributed a great deal tonight, or that would have been a defining play.
I actually appreciated the job by the ISU defender on that play. It was textbook 2-on-1 defense (at least the way I was taught it back in the day). Make a move to force the ball-handler to do what you want him to do, then anticipate it to either steal the pass, fluster the guy into a turnover or throw him off rhythm. You never see defenders do that anymore. I only wish the table had been turned.

                • As for the ESPN3 quality issues, I have a local ISP (not Cox) an my video quality seemed to rise and fall at the same times as many others here. That tells me ESPN was having server issues and if your quality didn't drop, you must have been piped to a stable server. At least, that's the only explanation I can come up with.

I think Nick is playing somewhat better defense, too, although he does get burned at times. What was a little deceiving Tues. nite was that Marshall was subbing Nick and Tekele at nearly every whistle (offense for defense). That started pretty early when Tekele got his 4th foul. Thus, although it seemed like Nick was in down the stretch, his minutes were sort of being split with Tekele. I do like his drives and if he could get his confidence back in his jumper he can help out a lot more. He's a gifted dude.

                          • Although someone should tell nick that you want to be 'a part' of something special, not 'apart'

Being 'apart' of something special is what happens when you go to swomo

Is HS basketball in Indiana still really popular? That could have been it.
