North Carolina Central - Pregame Discussion/Predictions
Hopefully we will get out first look at CJ this Saturday vs UCC:
Ready for real — WSU forward Chadrack Lufile is back at practice after sitting out Monday’s exhibition game with a hyperextended left knee. He is hopeful a string of injuries that included a dislocated shoulder are behind him. The Shockers open the regular season on Saturday against North Carolina Central and Lufile wants to be ready. He also sat out Shocker Madness and WSU’s closed scrimmage with South Dakota State, along with numerous practices.
“It’s frustrating, but I’m just happy this is the beginning of the season and not the middle of the season,” he said. “Exhibition games don’t really count, so I want to get myself healthy for the games that really count so I can come back 100 percent and help our team.”
Here's the deal. The black and yellow curtains will rise at 21st and Hillside Saturday for another fun-packed Shocker Season. When our tenacious D is done with plucking the Eagles, they will become bald Haliaeetus Leucocephalus and spitting up feathers. What describes our beloved Shocks so far? Coachable, quality depth, a Defense capable of trapping and pressing more that will in return feed our Offense, and a team that we understand will be much improved in Feb. when we hope to be peaking by then to save the very best for last. Thus we will begin this Shocker journey and get a win under our belt but also begin improving our needed chemistry as we find the winning combinations from within that benefit us the most.
Shocking Defense Wins Games----86
Balding Eagles-------------------52
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
No prediction here, but I echo the thoughts of @Rixtoy1, ShockerNation should find a way to make an impression Saturday night with this kid.
For the record, I emailed Eric Sexton with both the story and a request to consider introducing RaShawn if he does not start, to give the shocker fans a chance to show support, but also noting it is complex given coach's approvals, technicalities, etc.
He immediately responded and said he could not promise anything, for the reasons I mentioned, but he would see what he could do.
I'll keep my eyes open for it.
If you take the high road, you won't find much traffic there . . .
Bigger, Faster, Stronger 100+
NC Central - It doesn't matter.
Have been following shocker hoops since the 70's. This is the most athletic and fastest TEAM we've probably had, 12 deep deserves a WOW! this won't be the last time we blow to doors off somebody by posting a Hunski. Gentlemen start your engines, its about go time!
Despite the fact that NCC is not very big (in the front court) I'm not sure we are giving them the respect they may warrant with a couple of exceptions.
The Shocks should win this game (by margin in the teens), but I think NCC will prove to be a very noticeable step up in competition from Pitt State, or at least I hope that is the case.
Here is a video interview of NCC Head Coach Levelle Moton with some highlights interspersed:
Play-by-play voice of the NCCU Sports Network Chris Hooks sits down with Head Coach LeVelle Moton of the men's basketball program to preview the 2012-13 camp...
Worthwhile watching IMHO. Very nice comments about the Shockers around the 5:00 minute mark.
In watching the highlights keep in mind Dominque Sutton wore #1 and graduated.
BTW, I hope the consensus (a 32-point win) is accurate. That would be mean only very good things for this Shocker team.
