I'm not wrong at all. You are trying to make excuses. Why didn't Mills take his whole staff if that's what it took to be good? There are no extra restrictions put in place on WSU that USF doesn't have. It's a 100% apples to apples comparison. So YOU are "just wrong"

I have explained in past multiple posts, that HCPM took over the job late in the recruiting process.
There was little left in the portal to choose from. Anyone worthwhile had already been bought and paid for.

So...pay close attention here...he had to choose from the likes of Beverly, Cortes etc. He got really lucky when Ridgnal came available out of nowhere.
If there had been a high level PG available, he would have jumped on it.
Point is...now pay close attention here again...THERE WEREN'T ANY AVAILABLE!

So he had what he was left with by your good friend IB.
      That is all.
Ref I'm probably you're biggest fanboy... seriously, I love everything you bring to this board...but this is just a bad take with all the contrary evidence leading to 0-5 record vs. fellow AAC first year coaches. And then we see what's going on in Tampa.

Not your finest hour. I have full confidence you'll bounce back.

Because one stayed to be the head coach, which is an upgrade from being an assistant. It's the same reason UNT was able to keep some of their important players.

No one has said there's "restrictions" in place. Your coach, and entire staff that you have a relationship with, gets hired at a school in a better conference and says "come with us", you aren't staying at Kennesaw State. The difference is that Mills' players went to high major programs, one with huge NIL opportunities, while Abdur-Rahim's players went from low to mid major with their entire coaching staff.

This is what I believe, take it or leave it.

PM thought he had Abmas pretty much in the bag. In fact, most recruiting “experts” had Abmas coming to WSU. By the time Abmas finally committed to Texas (on or about April 26th), there were few quality PG’s available.

Between that time and the time PM was hired, if you were a PG looking to play, you absolutely wouldn’t pick WSU because you would figure Abmas was going here and would get all the playing time. Other PG’s moved on.

Again, my opinion, take it or leave it.
I don't recall there was any indication Abmas was following Mills here.

Or they stayed at a low major. Oral Roberts has several players that appear to be really good and would be upgrades over what we landed.

The case you are making might actually be WORSE for Mills. We've heard how tough it is to recruit to ORU which is why Mills only won 20 games 1 time in his career. They have "draconian" rules due to the religion connection. Yet ... not a single player from his NCAA tournament team wanted to step up a level and go to a school with less strange rules. Not a single one thought highly enough of HCPM to follow him to WSU. Not one. So was he ever really the reason they went to ORU? sure doesn't seem like it.

Though we are getting a bit off topic here. You stated he brought 3 players which is why they are good. Well 1 of the 3 hasn't played a minute all year. A second averages 5 pts a game. Really only 1 of the 3 players are impactful (Youngblood). 3 of the top 5 scorers came from other D1 schools or JUCOs. So really it was his overall ability to recruit as the reason why they are good. Along with his in game ability

Meh. Just assume players will go to the highest bidder. Can't blame the players when this is the current system they're operating in. Chances are this is the most money Abmas will make playing a game.

I can tell you that there was something there. Not sure how good of a chance for it to happen, but significantly more than ZERO.

                    • I may be entirely wrong about this but I believe Nolan Richardson brought much of his Juco team to Tulas with him and had immediate success

They (Western Texas College) won the Juco National Championship in Hutch and he took most of them with him to Tulsa. He had several studs including this one...

Loved that rivalry with Tulsa. Holy cow that was good. BTW. I about rolled out of my seat at the 30 second mark of this video. You'll see. Hahahaha.

Oh, and the Spinners were legit!

Daniel Fair apparently didn't watch the game, or he's a complete idiot.

Good for the Duke player though .. had to be carried off the floor screaming in pain only to not miss a single minute of the next game 3 days later. First player to ever come back from needing a full amputation to playing within a week.
