So I'll stir the pot, knowing the DEEP dislike for FHCIB.....how many of you believe , with the team and coach we have NOW , vs.the team and coach we had/probs WOULD HAVE had...that the Shocks are better off?
He's 12th in the country in total blocks and 10th in the country in 2 point field goal percentage. He's 1st in the conference in several stats around blocks, and too many top 20 in the conference to list.
He plays way above the rim.
He is the lunker we always dreamed of, but now that we finally have one, we have very weak guard play.
*sigh*
no, when they showed that stat/graphic on espn2, i think it was, he was 1st or 2nd in the country at that time (bpm). that's the last i saw of any of his blocked shots stats (except that he had 7 blk shts in his last game). a lot of defensive minded coaches would love to have him on their team.. that allows perimeter defenders to overplay and let their guy drive to the basket, at worst, where a shot-blocking machine is waiting. too bad it sounds like mills is not a defensive minded coach. we'll see where ballard winds up, if he enters the portal. somebody like, say, a st. john's would be a whole lot of trouble if ballard transferred there.

I'll hang up and listen......:)
Insufficient data sample to come to a logical conclusion. I'll get back to you after HCPM third season and compare the two.

They’re too busy looking at the metrics and figuring out the best spot to shoot their jumpers.
While we’re piling on, how about the Mills pre-season quote that he doesn’t want guys working on their weaknesses but rather sharpen their strengths? I guess bad defenders like Colby just spend the entire practice shooting from their spots.
I'm not a metrics guy, frankly I hate it because it flies in the face of "feel", but whatever, I'm old and there are better ways to do things, always.
That being said, I don't think his comment you allude to above is that bad. It's not like we have McD All Americans. Playing to our strengths (as few as they are) isn't the worst thing in the world for this group. Identifying those strengths are something we seem to be struggling to do, imho. I doubt (nor do I think it's a good idea) that we ignore the non-strengths.
Also, unrelated, there is no doubt HCPM is handling the off court duties far better than the previous admin and that's a big part of the job.
