There’s less talented teams with superior coaching that wins lots of basketball games against superior talent. It happens a lot actually.

      • Hard to know what to say. Defense was woeful. Giving up 31 points off of 18 turnovers—devastating.

        • Several factors, says Captain Obvious:
there is not a current Shocker who could start for Memphis… only a couple could play at all

memphis was UNREAL from three… even shooting alone in a gym, most players don’t make that percentage

Bell is a great kid but the quicker he gets rid of the ball the less chance for turnover

None of the shockers has ever been the best player on a college team except maybe Rogers

first half was hopeful and with THAT level of performance, Shocks might have two more wins

            • We are now 151 in KenPom .. the last time we were outside the top 150 in KP was AT LEAST 2010 .. that's when the weekly stats stop showing up on the team sheets. Most likely in 2008 from what i can tell.

The $108,000 monthly payments to Isaac Brown end in April 2026.

Mills' contract ends on June 30, 2028. If the contract is terminated before the end of year 3 (March 2026), he's owed the full amount of his contract. If after year 3, he's owed 75% of the remainder.

This is all to say there's probably nothing that will be done even if we still suck next season, unless someone drops a pretty serious bag off at the WSU athletic department.

After year 3, Brown's payments are nearing completion, and we'll only have about 7 months left on Marshall's.
I just wonder if anyone cares that there will be 1,500 people in the stands if Mills gets to year 3 and the program still looks like this.

So.. the last time we had a coaching change? (Brown doesn’t count)

We are KenPom favorites in 5 remaining games

                    ECU at home by 5
                    UTSA at home by 10
                    Tulsa at home by 5
                    Temple at home by 7
                    Rice at Home by 8

So not projected to win a single road game ... and we all know Temple already handled us .. so that "win by 7" is questionable. 2-4 wins is probably what should be expected.

                      • The disparity in the talent level between the 2 teams was obvious. It is going to take time.

                        • Anyone who was at the game and saw the team take the floor for the second half could tell what was going to happen. We played reasonably well the first half against the #13 team in the country. One would think they would be running out of the tunnel and acting like they can’t wait to get after it. Nope, just the opposite. Reminded me of our last game in the AAC tournament last year. Hell, even the TV guys pointed it out. This felt the same.

A coach can’t tell his team he wants them sprinting out on the court? A coach can’t keep the team engaged? He sure as hell can. Really frustrating.

the team coming out flat is 100% on Mills.

                          ok, I’ll shut up now.

Why is that? Happens almost every game.

That is literally every single game. Its been called out on the board in basically every single game thread.

                              • It all goes back to not having a quality PG. 18 turnovers, most of which lead to atomic bombs on the other end. It was pretty obvious we were going to get creamed so I’m not too worked up. I’m hopeful Mills is learning some lessons regarding personnel that can’t be fixed in the middle of the season.
