After the top 2 teams in the conference, I'm not sure how much difference there is from top to bottom of the other 11 opponents.

What I do know is that we play the top 2 teams 4 times. We also play, what I think might be the bottom 3 teams, Charlotte, Rice, and UTSA, only 3 times total.

What I think might be the next 5 top teams (Tulane, SMU, USF, Tulsa, and UAB) we play 2 games at home and 4 on the road. So, I don't believe the conference did us any favors.

Minus the top 2 teams, we should win all 7 home games. The question is "How good of road warriors is this team?".

My prediction for 15-18 wins hasn’t changed. I didn’t appreciate the description of Mills’ collection of athletes as “misfit toys” during yesterday’s broadcast but quite frankly, it’s an apt description. At least we have a longer bench and a PG that can take the load off of XB and another high motor guy.

And I still think these guys will win a game or two they shouldn’t and lose more than a couple they should. They’ll get our hopes up and then quickly dash them.

I’m just looking for game-to-game improvement, not just for the team but also the individual players. Most importantly, I hope to see the team continue to play hard up until the bitter end.

I had no problem with the context of the misfit toys comment. Fran was complimentary of Mills and was being honest.

What did Fran say about misfit toys? I must’ve missed that.

As we were getting run out of the gym early in the 2nd half he said Mills is the guy to turn it around but this isn't a talented team and he got started late in the recruiting process that he's left with misfit toys (paraphrasing).

                      Looking at Remaining Games

                      1/21: at USF - L
1/24: vs ECU - Toss Up (they did beat Temple by 12 at Temple)
                      1/28: vs SMU - L
1/31: at Tulsa - Toss Up
                      2/3: at Memphis - L
                      2/7: vs UTSA - Hopefully W
                      2/11: vs FAU - L
                      2/15: at ECU - probably L
                      2/18: at Charlotte - Probably L
                      2/21: vs Tulsa - hopefully W
2/25: vs Temple - Toss Up
                      2/28: at UAB - probably L
                      3/2: vs Rice - hopefully W
                      3/8: at Tulane - Probably L

So my count is 3 "Probably W" and 3 toss ups.

13-15 wins looks like the biggest possibility IMO at this point.

On the bright side, we are ending the year with a very winnable slate if we can just put together more than 5 good minutes of basketball a game. We just haven't proven to be able to do that yet.

IMO the Shockers "hopefully" will win four remaining home games (UTSA; Tulsa; Temple; Rice) to close the season with 12 victories.

There are so many frustrating things about this......

But can anyone argue the following:

I can't imagine anyone thinks WSU, WSU-ICAA, the city of Wichita, the fans etc etc aren't worse off since HCGM. That seems undeniable.

But will anyone argue that the young men within the program are better off without Gregg? Does anyone think the kids going through the program are more prepared for life, both in and out of basketball, with our leadership now vs Gregg?

                            I certainly won't.

I will listen if someone wants to pick up that torch.

I don't see how anyone can argue that the "New" leadership is better or worse than the FHCGM style at preparing the kids in the program for life in and out of basketball. I invoke the Schrodinger's cat to illustrate a paradox of quantum superpositon wherein a hypothetical cat may be considered both alive and dead simultaneously because its fate is linked to a random event that may or may not happen.
