I'm ok with a larger effort at discounting tickets...maybe for first time buyers, even first time this season. I'm also ok with ticket giveaways. Whether organized (can't do enough for military imho for instance) or say something like the first 100 people in line at 5:45 get a free ticket. Anything to get these guys more support. Maybe free or deep discounted concessions with a purchase. Anything at all to get some more butts in seats.
WSU spit in the face of A LOT of supporters under Golden. I know we don’t have season tix any more because of that. The university is reaping what it has sowed, and it’s going to take a lot of time to fix. Winning will put butts back in seats but until then they can’t expect the blind support they once had.

I understand that people were upset at how that was handled, but everyone involved has been removed/ fired. If we want the premier activity in Wichita to succeed it's going to take the community supporting this university and team as it builds up to a winning culture. The University has been around for almost 130 years and plays an important part in growing our city, don't let a few missteps by a president who is no longer at the helm cloud your judgment. Leaders come and go but WSU needs support.

At this point they should hand out 500-1000 cheap seats to McConnell and military personnel. Unused seats are a complete waste.

I know some will disagree, but they also have to be careful about pissing off new/recent season ticket buyers by selling tickets near them for half the price too often. I don't know what the best compromise is between the two perspectives.

Maybe keep the $40 price, but offer some free/discounted concessions, plus 50% off a ticket to a future game?

The pick 3/4/5 are a nice idea, but at full price they aren't a deal at all. You only get a discount with the 4-game pack at $35 per ticket instead of $40. I can just go buy the same tickets to the games I want, but if something comes up I'm not stuck with tickets I already paid for but may not be able to re-sell. When we get to 85-90% capacity, then those deals becomes more attractive. And when you're picked 6th in conference before learning you don't get to play your on PG, there's no such thing as a "premium" game, IMO. I don't feel like we have a true rival yet in the AAC.

It doesn't help when you can find tickets for $9 online.

I know I have friends that only buy online because it saves them a lot of money. Especially if they take the whole family.

I still think $40 per ticket to sit in the upper reaches for a program that has been through some difficult times the last few years is asking a lot. I had no idea that prices had doubled over the past few years as previously I'd never spent more than $20 I think for a ticket through WSU. It's been a few years since I've done that and most of my tickets over the last few years have been through other people or online options.

When I first saw this, all I could think of is "why the hell would I want to drive all the way to Tulsa to watch Tulsa play basketball". I didn't think people in Tulsa wanted to drive to the Tulsa game. And then I remembered, I'm stupid.

when you buy season tickets, mini plans or even single game tickets in advance, you are guaranteed a seat. Who cares what kind of discounts they give to fill up the arena? You wanna run the risk of not getting a ticket to get a discount, go for it. At some point, the place will be selling out and those discounted seats won't be there. Until then, I say sell sell sell!

Maybe high school seniors looking for a University to attend (but I suspect that's illegal recruiting somehow) as well.

That is kind of my point. Right now, there is no risk to not getting a ticket to the game(s) you want. When the arena gets to 9000 tickets sold on a consistent basis, then there's some risk. We're not even to 7000 right now.

I know some buy their season tickets because they are going to support the program no matter what. Those of us for whom it's a bit of a sacrifice to shell out the $$$ for season tickets, there's no incentive to buy them or the mini-plans while the arena is barely half full.

no such thing as $9 tickets. They might be listed as $9 but after all the fees they tack on you're going to pay just about as much as if you went to the stadium box office

False. There may be fees, but not $30 worth.
